Dear world, stop telling women how to lead their lives by your old and regressive social norms. Everything in this Short is something I have been told at some point, and in some cases, still told.

When I decided to do my PhD, a random friend decided it’s his business to tell me it’s a bad idea because when would I get married. I cut ties with that friend and did my PhD. I was told at my wedding that brides don’t laugh so loudly and I should be more shy. When I wanted to change my job for a better opportunity on leadership, my boss and mentor asked me “how much more do you want to lead?”

For every one person who encourages you, there will be 10 trying to hold you back. Just time to dim out all the noise.
