This is a demonstration of the conservation of angular momentum using a platform and dumbbells that are held at varying distances from a spinning body.

This demonstration was created at Utah State University by Professor Boyd F. Edwards, assisted by James Coburn (demonstration specialist), David Evans (videography), and Rebecca Whitney (closed captions), with support from Jan Sojka, Physics Department Head, and Robert Wagner, Executive Vice Provost and Dean of Academic and Instructional Services.

Whoaaa the way it slows down when arm is out, and speeds up when arm is brought close to chest is awesome.

When p is constant then when t is lower then w is bigger

Great demo, but the statement "the moment of inertia is bigger if there's more weight far from the axis., " should refer to more "mass" far from the axis. This shows how slippery the term weight and mass can be when in our experience on the surface of the earth they are never separate.
