Just came back after the finale. “Many arms surrounding you in a cold embrace...” Damn epic foreshadowing

For the first time Thrawn shows small sign of fear. The Force is something that is impossible to calculate in a predictable way.

I like how Thrawn doesn't gloat - he's genuinely curious about what Bendu is and what he's capable of.

I'm so glad they showed Bendu's darkness in this episode, he's supposed to be gray but up until this point he was pretty light oriented. Very glad we saw him not being totally good or bad as he was meant to be

The first time I've ever seen Thrawn unsettled. Because the Bendu is the Force, and the Force cannot die.

For all Thrawn's genius he could not truly comprehend the Force.

I do love that they kept in Thrawn's one weakness. The Force. its the one thing he can't predict, define, or understand. And one of the few things that genuinely scares him deep down. And its a great character trait. He fears the unknown, and thats why hes so methodical and plans for everything

0:41 - 0:43 I LOVE the slight quavering of Thrawn's eye/iris there. He was truly caught off-guard and frightened by Bendu's words. He's a tactical genius with incredible intuition and analytical skills who can solve basically any tactical problem you present him with but one thing he cannot grasp is The Force. I imagine this will haunt Thrawn, keep him up at night. Bendu's words will echo in the back of his head, he migth become paranoid. I love it! And the expression at 0:53, the only time we've really seen Thrawn be so caught off guard that he let slip his stonefaced expression for a few moments before regaining his composture.

That laugh... chills man. Man Bendu is the Cheshire Cat of Stat Wars. Always giving cryptic advice, always vanishing into thin air.

For those who say he pulled an obi-wan, you guys are forgetting, this isn't the first time he just vanished into thin air. Last time it was when maul showed up and he vanished. To pull an obi-wan one must actually die, and thrawn did not have the power to kill bendu.

I like Thrawn, he's a worthy and respectable adversary.

He doesn't outright deny anything that's different or mysterious, he's always open to expand his knowledge. He knows the Force exists, he knows about Jedi, and he was probably aware of Force-sensitive creatures like the Bendu.

So when the Bendu says "i can see", Thrawn takes this opportunity to learn and possibly gain the same advantage like some Jedi do when they predict the future.

I wonder if Bendu was talking about Thrawn's death or the destruction of the empire

“I see your defeat. Like many arms surrounding you in cold embrace.”
THAT is an excellent line.

I feel like the “you cannot see” is a reference to and mocking Thrawn about “Third Sight” from the Thrawn book series

Notice that when the Bendu states asks “You cannot See” Thrawn becomes very interested in what it has to say. He’s already concluded that it’s a force-sensitive being (though far more than just sensitive) and he knows that prescience is a force ability as it’s how Chiss ships navigate the Chaos (Unknown Regions). He already knows far more about force related prescience than most Chiss (considering that only senior military officers even know of Skywalkers he knows more than most of them too) and is aware that the outcomes foreseen can be avoided if you have the skill and prescience to do so.

Thrawn does not shoot the Bendu out of anger or to put on a show for, what to him are his temporary Imperial allies, but out of fear of what he’s been told. Thrawn in this moment is genuinely afraid of what he’s been told. Read or even better listen to the books and you’ll get a better idea of how he ticks but he is used to watching beings with force prescience guiding ships around hazards at the speed of light and even watched Vader do so before this point. He knows how accurate it is and is afraid that his mission to help strengthen his people by going to Lesser Space (everything but the Unknown Regions) will end in failure through his death. Hell, his utter ruthlessness in the show is actually an act put on to cover for Governor Price having stuck her foot in an Imperial operation and causing an atrocity to cover up her actions.
