As an individual who occasionally bites my own tongue and mouth, I for one am glad not to be venomous.

I like the idea of a venomous snake biting itself, getting embarrassed, and like. Hiding the bite from all its snake friends to avoid getting made fun of.

Two snakes are crawling through the grass when one says, ''Tell me, are we the kind of snake that bites people or do we just crush them''? The second snake replies, "We are the type of snake that crushes people". The first snake says, ''Well thank God for that, I just bit my lip''!

My father-in-law has been bitten so many times by copperheads that he's nearly immune to their bites. He has been called on to donate his blood to help a victim of a copperhead bite when the anti-venom wasn't close by.

I would have figured as much. If honey badgers and mongooses can become resistant to venom, I'd say a snake would be resistant to its own venom.

Imagine shooting your own leg with a syringe that was meant to kill somebody else. Certainly one of the more embarrassing deaths.

Leave a man alone with a venomous snake and, nine times out of ten, someone's getting injected with venom. Apparently that still holds true when that person's a scientist, just not always in the order you'd expect.

Fun fact :
The "butterflies-in-your-stomach" is caused by a reduction of blood flow to your gut due to a fight-or-flight response .

Reminds me of the old man of Blackheath
Who sat on his set of false teeth...
"Good Lord, bless my heart!",
He cried with a start,
"I've bitten myself underneath!"

"Of course"
"Do you really?"
"Yeah they'll di..nothin..hmm"

I remember reading in the Guinness Book of World Records that the record for the longest fangs in a snake were in a Gaboon viper which in captivity bit itself to death.

I know a person who injected Mamba's venom in trace amounts for a long time. And gradually he became completely immune the venom even when bitten by snake
