WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU PASS AWAY IN PRISON?

I struggled with addiction for almost 10 years. I have been in and out of jail/prison for years. I now have my Bachelor's degree in criminal program support services. 📚 I hope to use my experience in the system and my degree to help others better understand addiction and our prison system. This story is based on my own personal opinion and experiences.

"So even in death you're still at the prison." Damn, that's heavy.

I cannot describe the outrage and pain I feel about the headstones having numbers instead of names...

She is defiantly a role model for people who feel there is no way out.

ive never been to prison but i had to go to the hospital when i was in jail and they didnt call my husband obviously. but my nurse kicked the supervising officer out of the room (for my privacy) and i broke down crying that my husband didnt even know where i was and she whispered that she would tell him, and i gave her the number using my fingers and she walked out and called him personally to let him know where i was and that i was okay. it was one of the most kind things anyone has ever done for me especially knowing now that she risked her job to do that.

Just a number on a tombstone is so dehumanizing. The disrespect to the actual grave is heartbreaking.

My brother died in prison. I was given a 4 hour time limit to come see his body and it took 3 hours to get there. He was mentally ill and overdosed on his psych meds he stockpiled. The only reason he got an obituary was because I paid for it. No one wanted to claim him. I was the only one in my family who would. He was my best friend. It’s like he just ceased to exist when he went in. That was the first death. The second was when he actually died. I miss him every damn day. He never had a chance.

My husband is coming up on a year sober. This is the longest he’s ever gone without relapsing. Watching your channel together has made such a difference! I know how to support him better and he knows when to ask for help! So thank you so much for all that you do!!

My grandfather passed away in prison. He was in hospice, one of the very few hospice beds in the California state prison system, so we were able to visit and say goodbye and I'm so thankful for that. I will never forget though when he got very sick, we found out via a letter from another inmate who got my mom's address from my Papa's stuff because the prison never contacted us..
Thank you for this video Jess, I love the content you make ❤️

They aren’t calling family to inform them of prisoners have COVID and being quarantined. My 19 year old brother is in a Illinois facility and we were worried because we didn’t hear from him for a few weeks and we had no idea what was going on. He had covid and had no way of telling us.

You’re videos are so educational, and although I’m only 14 I find them so interesting. I’ve seen 60 days in and found that so fascinating because it showed how prisons really are, however I could never find any other programmes that were similar. I found your channel and I’m honestly so glad!

My cousin died in prison in Virginia and the prison made it extremely hard to get his body. They kept trying to just bury him at the prison. My aunt was outraged. After a week or two, she was able to get his body.

When I heard inmates get buried outside the prison my heart dropped to my stomach. It is so sad people have to go through that. Jessica is a good role model. Thanks to Jessica I am sober
