The origin of the Red and White flag dates back hundreds of years.

Indonesia tidak pernah benci kepada belanda maupun jepang, tetapi tidak pernah melupakan sejarah itu dan itu diajarkan kepada anak anak

Most Indonesians (at least in daily life) don't have grunge against Dutch and Japanese anymore, heck Most of the youngsters love Japanese culture so much (weeb culture is big here) and we have big import/export relationship with Japan. We treat that as history in the past.
Funny that recently Dutch sent a representative to Indonesia and had him apologize for what happened in the past. The man is very visibly scared meanwhile we're like "chill bro, are you okay?"

Although there was some tension from a company called Freeport. Basically, it was a US mining company that is the largest and most profitable gold mine in the world. To simplify, this company was a pact that Indonesia and the US had because we needed the US to help Indonesian independence. The tension comes because most of the profit is owned by them and the locals almost do not get the benefits except for the cheap working job. Nowadays finally Indonesian government has successfully fought back gained more than 51% share and has the right to own the company. Very good as Papua is one least developed provinces in Indonesia

tbh as Indonesian, personally I have no ill-thoughts about the Dutch but not to forget about history. It's more like, I think of it more as "we WON against them and our ancestors fought for the Independence & it was not a gift or anything like that". I think it's pride?
Also, this is modern day, where we have our own problems we need to solve in the country.

I have to say that Indonesia have quite a good relationship with Dutch these days also with Japanese who ruled Indonesia for 3.5 years but the painfull feel more than 350 years of Dutch time
