chimney petes are way more common than the full black painted one anyway. In 2016 “stroopwafel pete” made it’s entrance, and it has been chimney pete ever since then. you barely see the blackfaced ones except when you hire them privately and choose one who’s fully painted black.

I do just want to note that in most places in the netherlands the pete is now white with some smudges from going ‘down the chimney’

As a person from the Netherlands who is also brown growing up it never occurred to me that black Pete was weird, but i did find it very weird as a kid when all the kids in my class got painted black for the Sinterklaas parade and they skipped me because I was already black. It always made me sad that I couldn't take part like the other kids could. I think it's a good thing we're slowly changing the tradition and that everyone can take part in the tradition without feeling left out or mocked

As a brazilian black guy, i think you guys in usa should stop trying to change others countries cultures, literally no one beside you thinks blackface is racist (you have a historical thing with blackface, the rest of the world don't)
