I’ve seen other your videos that did this method before but you’re the only one who explained it using a “rule of thumb”. I’ve always had trouble with positioning the shell to start the trick but when you said “until you start balancing”. Thanks!

Excellent still works as of 29/12/23. I found yoshi the best to use ( just eat the bird) as it lets you get the shell in position while taking hits from itand its only a quick restart of the level if you mess up.

still works, just have to make sure not to slide down the left wall, instead just land where the block originally was or else it will be too far left and the shell kills you

Just continuously hold A for Mario do a high jump each time he bounces and the trick still works. A little slower, but works
