Biggest secret? Every kid in 1989 knew how to access the minus world. Wait till this guy learns how to juggle a koopa on a staircase for unlimited 1-ups.

I performed this glitcb at a Gaming Museum. They had a machine that would loop just the first three levels...well that day I made the machine play a "fourth" level. The museum staff was like hell yeah Ive been waiting for someone to do that, he was about my age.

It actually takes you to 36-1, but they have no graphic for 36, so the space appears blank

That's the 'Endless Minus World'. Was pretty well known back in the 90's.

When you get you get to the forth stage on any level, make sure you have the fire flower mario, when you get to bowser, make sure one of marios foot hits bowsers head while the other hits the axe/switch at the same time. The thing that removes the floor thAt makes bowser fall into the lava. The next stage you will be able to have the fire flower while you are small. Damn, i havent played this game in decades. We used to do it on the original NES all the time. I managed to jump the flag pole with some help ...it just keeps going. No enemies, nothing. Time runs out and you die. 😂

You mean one of the most well known glitches in video game history. Just because it’s new to you, doesn’t mean it’s new to everyone.

Fun fact, nintendo patched this glitch when they rereleased super Mario brothers on the famicom disk system. This patch however just adds a different minus world. However for reasons that i dont know they decided to use the famicom cartridge version on every single rerelease afterward (that i know of).

So basically the Gameboy color, GBA, wii VC, wii u VC, 3ds VC, switch online NES app, NES classic edition, and super mario brothers game and watch all use the unpatched version we had on the NES and famicom cartridge.

I played this "glitched" soooo many times in my childhood. I just thought it was a secret shortcut meant to be found because every kid in my elementary school knew about it. Back than we use to judge how good you are on Mario bros by if you can pass the game with one life without using shortcuts. And we had no saves.
