There's a trick you can do in 1-2 using a red koopa shell and a couple of blocks, no Yoshi needed, so there's a trick available even earlier on in the game (since you don't need baby yoshi)

erm actually you go in soda jungles-1 and at combo the first 3 big giant goombas🤓🧐👆

You can also just take the koopa to the stairs at the end of the first level and do it there (faster, and works in every version including Luigi U)

I actually did something like that on mario 3d world on world 1 level 2. There will be 2 thin spaces where you can throw a koopa shell and constantly bounce on it GOTTA BE WARY OF THE TIME. 'OH SHOOT GOTTA GO'

I do it a different way. Go to the first level of soda jungle and keep jumping on the big goombas and while they desperate swap between the goombas. It works for me randomly find out that method.
