Why Was The Book of Enoch Banned?

Показать описание
To start off, to say the Book of Enoch was ‘banned’ from the bible isn’t entirely accurate. It wasn’t so much banned as it was never really considered for inclusion in the recognised canon of the Hebrew bible.
You see, one of the most standout things about the Book of Enoch is its namesake - Enoch - and how the book is attributed to a character that isn’t widely recognised. In order to really canonize a piece of ancient literature, it would need to have direct connection to a revered figure or prophet and because Enoch isn’t traditionally thought of in this light, the text automatically lost a lot of its weight when church elders were first putting the bible together. Canonical books typically claim authorship by well-established prophets, patriarchs, or apostles who had what was believed to be direct connection to God. The attribution to Enoch, a figure with minimal scriptural presence, might have posed as a challenge to the conventional norms of canonical authorship.

I have always wondered that Enoch was an oral tradition, and I would not be surprised Jude quoted the oral tradition as it was not written down. A small enough paragraph to pass down through ancestry and priests no? Very well done.

You got it wrong. It does speak of the sons of God sleeping with women.
Genesis 6:2 NIV
[2] the sons of God saw that the daughters of humans were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose.

Thank you much!! I'm currently studying the Latin liturgical mass of catholicism. This aids the Magus with understanding the latinized forms of the medieval Grimoires. This is a little side study😊❤

The watchers ARE mentioned in canonical scripture (minute 5:13) in the KJV: Daniel 4:13 - I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven;
Then again in Daniel 4:17 & 23

The wicked do not fear man. But in the text Enoch is a fearful man. In such he is favoured by God due to easy conditioning. The wicked make it hard to condition and therefore are not favoured by God. Jesus teaches us the power of unlimited conditioning making even the wicked want to follow, and be delivered by the grace of God.

My opinion about God. When it seems he doesn't know what is happening is wrong he does. I believe because he has no beginning or end. He's on another level or understanding.

The Eastern Orthodox church doesn't banned the book, because its not heretical. It was just not canonical. Having the "Bible" means that you read it in public in the Church. The book of Enoch is not read in Church that's all. As for the Oriental Orthodox Church (Ethiopian), you will have to ask them why they made it canon in their Bible. I do know this, the Angels (demons) that seduce women, were actually:
Nephilim
>Pagan King: A king worshiped as a god, often participating in religious rites that elevate his status to divine.
>Temple Prostitute: A woman involved in temple rituals, often dedicated to serving deities through sexual rites.
>Demonic Possession: A demon, considered a false god, would be summoned and possess one of the participants, usually through blood sacrifices and using masks in the ritual.
The child born from this union is considered 100% human but legally 2/3 god and 1/3 human, echoing the semi-divine nature of figures like Gilgamesh, who is often referred to as a Nephilim in certain ancient stories. Nephilim in the context of ancient Near Eastern mythologies and rituals, emphasizing their perceived divine or semi-divine status through legal and ritualistic frameworks rather than purely biological terms.

The book of Enoch is not banned. The reason it was excluded from the Bible was because it couldn’t be verified if Enoch himself or someone close to him was the author of the book. The early church fathers were careful in verifying the authors of books when they began compiling what would be known as the Bible.
