Paul Morphy should be a bit higher on this list I think.

Actually a few things that I did some research and ran about 1500 instance calculations on:
Bobby Fischer would be first because of ELO inflation and his sheer creativity and skill. Magnus carlsen dominates through memorization but Bobby Fischer could play any type of chess and win without a challenge. The top 3 would be:
Bobby Fischer
Magnus Carlsen
Garry Kasparov

What Bobby Fischer did for chess is INCOMPARABLE to anybody else's accomplishment, he should be Number One. Korchnoi should be higher too - his was an incredible run

In terms of the highest peak, the GOAT would be Fischer. In terms of longevity, Karpov and Kasparov win out. In terms of dominance in a difficult era, Magnus, and then Botvinnik. You can't really please everyone with a list like this. Thay being said, Capablanca tends to be rated higher than where he is at by the pros themselves because he was vastly ahead of his time.

2 - Like why is Liren here but not Wesley So, who is the inaugural current and only classical WFRCC (note 45+15=60 is classical not slow rapid as FIDE incorrectly calls it) and who has a higher peak FIDE classical rating than Liren?

3 - Why are Tigran V Petrosian, Magnus Carlsen & Garry Kasparov here when they are known cheaters? Tigran V Petrosian cheated Bobby Fischer (just as Tigran L Petrosian cheated Wesley So). Magnus Carlsen cheated Anish in 2023 superbet blitz, Alexandra Kosteniuk in 2009 blitz WCC, Alireza a decade later in 2019 blitz WCC, Danya in 2020 AND 2021 lichess & Nepo in 2021 classical WCC. Garry cheated Vishy in 1995 classical WCC, Judit in 1994 Linares & the world in 1999 Garry vs the world.
