This thing is real, what are your thoughts guys? Why will or wont you buy this thing?

I would be buying the more traditional Xbox instead of the cloud base one.
Now this gen I have bought 99 percent of my games online. And I have used my 4k Blu Ray player once. In theory I would be the perfect candidate. Except for one thing and that's internet cap.
I currently have Comcast gigabite service. But I am capped at one terrabite. Between downloading games and streaming movies I hit about 600 gigs a month. I would be afraid that owning a cloud base system would put me over the limit.

I have the X, but would still pick up the better Scarlet, NOT Scarlet Cloud

Xbox Scarlett a Monster:
NATIVE 4K/60FPS ULTRA Or choose
1080p-1440P/120FPS ULTRA

Ps5 exclusives will still be 30fps 🤣🤣🤣

I'll buy the local hardware for sure, but if this 'cloud box' works as intended, it could be a great way to get the casual market to jump on board the next gen. Also, nothing is stopping people from upgrading to the 'real' hardware when it drops in price.

EDIT: Cloud box could also be attempt to grab market share in Western Europe (and Asia?) where the Internet speeds are typically excellent and data caps are basically non existent.

A streaming only device would make no sense as there are markets with poor internet connection, therefore lags would deter people from gaming on that device/buying it. Until the architecture will allow streaming worldwide with no lags the console are going to be beefer. Though a hybrid using great hardware and cloud power would be great

I'm curious of the technology behind this even tho I'm not interested in buying the streaming box.

My guess - Streaming Box will be $149 - Full next generation Xbox: $499 - Both launch November 2020.

What if Xbox One S and Xbox One X are transformed into Scarlet Cloud machines. That would be insane.

MS never gave up on wanting an always online system. They are just taking a slower approach this time.

Ya, I don't think consumers are ready for a *streaming* box. Some ISP's cap your data usage and streaming would flirt with that cap monthly. If not hurdle it all together.

If true this could give Microsoft a nice advantage next gen

the curios tech geek in me means I will buy both. damn it

If this is real are Sony aware and planning to nullify it with their own streaming device. MS could have a huge advantage going into next gen. The plot thickens.

$150 Next Gen Box or a $499 Next Gen box? 5G will be out by then (over 100mb/sec). I'll buy BOTH. Hardware for me and the Cloud for my Wife

I won't be getting the streaming box, i'll get the traditional console. That's if Microsoft get thier act together with decent exclusives otherwise I'll get PS5 next time. I've always prefered the Xbox platform but lately Sony have been killing it with great single player exclusives. This last generation Xbox has relied on 3 main franchises and 3rd party multiplats. Apart from Forza the only other great exclusive has been Sunset Overdrive. 343 and Coalition can't make Halo and Gears as good as Bungie and Epic and games like Sea of thieves and State of Decay are not the type of quality game I bought my Scorpio for. I love my X, as a console it's a fantastic piece of hardware but there are no killer games for it other than Forza Horizon 3

It's a move MS have to make, Sony is already in that space, Nvidia is making a push in that sector recently, and Google is rumoured to be working on their own similar console for 2019/20 as well. That's four major players throwing their hat into the mix, and as much as I don't like the idea, gaming will move to the cloud for most people over the next decade or so, and if MS are not in the space they could find themselves out of the race when it does happen.

I can't see me using a device for my main gaming set-up but I'd probably still get one for when I go on holiday, stick it in my suitcase and I could have my gaming library with me everywhere.

It's certainly a interesting take on the cloud gaming service model, in theory with parts of the game being rendered locally the games could look better than other services as less data would be being streamed over the internet and being compressed to reduce bandwidth required.

I collect games so I need the physical copies for the new xbox.

If you're streaming all your games won't you need a high speed connection? I don't think my internet speeds are good enough for a streaming service..

Definately putting one of those scarlet cloud devices in my washroom with a decent tv. Should add that I'm definately picking up the traditional hardware scarlet console
