Former CIA official: Putin unpredictable but not crazy | Prime

A former CIA official said predicting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s next move is difficult because he is an “egomaniac” who is preoccupied with his own impulses.

Dr. Barry McManus served in the Central Intelligence Agency for 26 years as the chief forensic psycho-physiologist. He believes Putin is becoming increasingly isolated and paranoid.

“I think his personal (sense) of grandeur that he sees in himself, makes him unpredictable,” McManus said.

When we get scared about someone like Putin we toss around "they are insane". This gentleman gave a frank and clear indication that Putin IS NOT crazy, He IS dangerous but Putin is NOT insane. Are they Ukrainians? If they are Ukrainians, are they rebel groups and not part of the official Ukrainian army? Are there other rebel groups, neither Ukrainian or Russian? Is it Russian army against Ukrainian army or Ukrainian rebel groups and other rebel groups against Russian Ukrainians?

I appreciate this. People want to label this darker aide of human behavior as "crazy" so they can distance themselves from it.
Truth is, people, average people, every day, do some messed up crap to salvage way less for themselves. Just look at the crazy fist fights over toilet paper during the pandemic!
Perhaps in his mind he is trying to protect something that is very important to him and to leave a legacy of keeping something intact. He's just got the balls to actually go for it on a scale that would make most piss their pants.
I saw a video of a little girl dying at the hands of the Russians invading Ukraine and it depressed me so much I had to turn off anything about the war for a while.
I don't like it but I also don't automatically just label him as crazy. I want to know what really set him off. Why now? What does HE fear? What is his toilet paper moment?
Simply calling him psycho is the West's way of making him a simple bad guy who should be exterminated.
Wouldn't surprise me at all if the US (my country) is behind some dirty dealings that really got him concerned.

*Russia's legitimate concerns must be addressed. Ukraine must honor the Minsk agreement they signed in 2014 guaranteeing Donbass region autonomy; and US/NATO must honor their agreement not to expand NATO eastward putting Russia at risk.* Until these agreements are honored the fighting continues. If they honor them the fighting stops THAT DAY. Russia’s security interests were not recognized, the US Regime says "our way or the highway." Russia says "No way."
