A word from Stu-

Saab Unleashed is a channel that started over lockdown and has evolved into a mixture of Saab-related shinanigans, car infotainment stuff and other gadget reviews.

I've been doing these reviews for a couple of years now. The reviews are always based on my personal opinion and are NOT paid for by the manufacturers. This should be fairly obvious because I always talk about any negative points of products.

Sometimes I buy head units to review; sometimes I reach out to manufacturers asking them to provide me with a head unit to review, and sometimes they reach out to me. It is important to me that everyone knows that these free products will never change the outcome of my opinion, or the head unit final scores. If there are issues, believe me, everyone will know!

My intention is to ultimately create detailed, honest and matter-of-fact reviews for consumers and enthusiasts, not advertisements for the manufacturers.

Nowadays, I try to use affiliate links in the video descriptions wherever possible. Most of them are not affiliate links, but there are some, such as those directing to Amazon or eBay. This means that if you use one of my links to buy something, I might receive somewhere between 1-5% of the value of your purchase from the retailer (obviously no cost to you).
I set this up because running this channel costs money via video editing software, music licencing, (not to mention buying head units and most of my evenings and weekends!) and I don't get paid for the reviews.

Anyway, I appreciate all of my viewers and subscribers and I am open to any suggestions you might have for me to improve the content.

CHANGE DPI SCALING THROUGH DEVELOPER OPTIONS:

Settings > System > Developer Options > 681232 > (under drawing section) Smallest Width > Set to 480, or 520 etc. (default is 720)

If you encounter an issue where the home launcher doesn't show after changing this setting (probably too low), swipe down from the top to open quick setting tiles to access the settings app again and change the value to something higher.

I tested this on the regular 720p CC3, not sure what the default value for CC3 2K is so just play around with this setting.

Not only microphone, but overall call quality you can hear is much much better. Thank you for testing that! Much appreciated 🥰

Although it doesn't have side volume controls it has the top right button, but it also has onscreen gestures. So use 2 fingers swipe left and right turns the volume down and up. And I can say after using it for a bit it actually works better than looking for a small button to press.

The problem with the CC3 2K in regards to the icons being smaller and Spotify and Waze search bar being smaller is, it will make it harder to use. As a head unit designed for cars, bigger icons are better for ease of use.

For people worried about the size of icons and text on the CC3 2K you can always go into the preference or accessibility settings and change the sizes of text, fonts and app sizes there

Was thinking I might have regretted buying my cc3 when I heard about the new update coming out soon. Seeing this, I have no regrets, as I got the 360 camera, and the large icons mean I have slightly less squinting as my eyes are slowly getting older and can see older users would benefit from larger text. My only complaint would be, when starting the clock instead of going to the default time display, I could change the default to analog clock. Otherwise, love the unit.

I purchased the CC3 2K. It is on order. Dan from Teyes is a great guy on product support. Cannot wait to install. Good company.

Been looking at head units recently for my Jeep Compass. This one seems to be leading the pack for the ones running android.

Great video as always. Would you be able to make one about general wiring of these FYT units? The instructions are vague at best in some cases but I have a feeling they're quite applicable from one 'brand' to another. I'd love to see a tour/breakdown of your jukebox test rig!

Hi Guys, I have just gotten this installed on a Suzuki 2014 and it works perfectly. I accidentally ordered the 3gb model instead of the 6GB ram but it still works amazing (I wanted the higher Ram) . Other than the odd 1 or 2 sec glitches, everything works perfect including steering controls etc.I also got the DVR and reverse camera. Both are really good quality and much better than stock. It's superfast 99% of the time which is awesome! I would only say that if you are looking for big icons, i couldn't find anywhere to change the resolution so you are stuck with the 2k and then the icons are actually quite small. Especially the volume control at the top right etc seems quite small. but I use the steering wheel control for that anyway. Android auto worked wireless from the get go. Didn't even have to set it up with wired setup first. I have a note 20 Ultra. If you have any questions, happy to help. I did get it installed professionally so can't comment on that but anything else, drop a question!. Also, @Saab Unleased, thank you for these videos. It was your previous CC3 review video that made me get this unit with the 2k option and I'm really happy with the upgrade to my car.🙏🙏🙏

I can vouch for the backup service provided by Dan in Australia. He was prompt and most helpful, a pleasure to deal with. I've had my CC3 for 18 months now, had no issues and just love it's capabilities & performance. No microphone issues with the external mic I installed, and the 170° night vision rear camera is just brilliant.

IMHO, CarPlay definitely looks better and more usable on the 2k screen. But the opposite is true for Android Auto and the whole Android interface. A higher PPI just makes the icons and text a little too small to be easily viewable on the head unit.

I'm concerned about the smaller tex size due to the increased resolution. It may make it hard to read text using Google Maps. Can you increase text font size on the 2K model?

Thanks for doing this comparison. Very helpful! Would you consider a short video comparing the call quality on the original CC3 using the internal mic vs the Teyes external mic?

On the back of your reviews I have just fitted a CC3 2K to our 2013 Merc Sprinter. Superb sound. Great screen. About to fit the rear view HD camera. You were positive about the Teyes car app. It’s a gimmick. DAB sounds superb and picked up 63 stations (DAB Z) before the antenna was grounded. Installation instructions are pitiful (one side of one sheet) but there are online videos. Teyes launcher radio does not support DAB. My Sprinter does not have canbus controls and the HU wouldn’t start until the supplied module was added to the supplied loom.

Very impressed so far but think I need to mod the UI or use another android launcher.

Thanks for the reviews.
