Love those 10 speeds, almost mistake proof.

You ate so kind to that motor, gear box, and every crossmember. This is truly the way to operate a heavy truck. B

10 speeds are good with lighter loads or a big motor and hefty trans. My opinion either 13 or 18 speeds are nice

The shift pattern is SO simple. I genuinely wish that instead of the complicated "splits" they just extended the pattern to the right or made you run it through the pattern again for the transmissions with more gears.

A true 15-speed that you run through THIS pattern 3 times could likely replace an 18-speed and would be much nicer to drive. Likewise, a 12-speed that's just this pattern with an extra shift per layer could take over for both 10s and 13s.

Then there'd only be two or three transmission types and they'd all be equally nice to drive. 10 speed low/hi, 12 speed low/hi, 15 speed low/med/high.

I miss driving big trucks, started out w/a 83 Pete conventional, 13 speed fueler transmission.
I/we logged up the north shore my dad & I, what a good life, breakfast, lunch, dinner in the woods.
Get up & do it all over again.

I've always floated the gears. Transmissions in big trucks aren't synchronized. Saves a lot of clutching.

Volvo super 10. With the switch on the thumb. You did not have to touch the clutch just need to listen to the engine and switch down 👍🤣

If you watch this and want to float shift one and aren’t familiar with it, for God sake don’t put much tension on the shifter. Let your fingers be like the spring that is holding tension against it lightly instead of the palm of your hand! Keep in mind that all that length of the shift lever amplifies your pressure immensely and synchronizers and blocker rings aren’t unbreakable
