My wife and I will be visiting Japan next year and I have been watching hours of YouTube videos. I wanted you to know that yours are by far the most informative best videos. Thank you for all of your hard work and the great information.

I got in a little argument with a Chinese dude who took my reserved seats. An official kicked him off the train 😂

Nice tips Pablo!
I want to add two more:
1. On ekinet people living in Japan can get up to 35% off if they reserve their tickets in advance.
2. On the Hokuriku Shinkansen, car number 10 has a designated luggage area (not sure about other lines).

Just want to say thank you so much. I just came back from a two week Japan trip and I was so intimidated by trying to put together a plan to enjoy the different areas. You and your wife made it soooo easy. You demystified what I absolutely could not figure out on my own and I had the best vacation of my life. I got to experience being a tourist with all of the hacks & preferences you shared. Going to Japan has been a bucket list item for years and I couldn't have made it happen without your making it so easy!

for those people who are planning to go to japan i suggest to buy a JAPAN RAIL PASS, it really helps save a lot of money to go a lot of places. on my 10 day trip I went to tokyo, osaka, nagoya, and fukuoka all in one very cheap and convenient as well but some location don't have JRP make sure to buy SUICA and load money on train station

I love the shinkansen, its so smooth and relaxing to ride! I came from the northeastern part of the USA so our public transportation is so-so and you have to have a car to get anywhere. I love how in Japan I can bike everywhere local, take the trains and buses farther away, and feel safe doing so alone. I seriously love living in Japan.

Perfect. Taking the Shinkansen from Fukuoka to Tokyo now, with one transfer in Kobe.

Just got back from Japan a few days ago and bought a 7-day Green JR Pass - the reclining seats, quiet cars and extra leg room made all the difference!!!
Just a tip for those riding in the green reserved cars at 5:44 IS A BIG NO-NO!!!! You cannot have shoes on when the footrest is folded out - you will possibly get told off.

LUGGAGE TIP: When you want to put your luggage at the ends of the car, I've seen locals extending the luggage handles and slipping it through a railing in the wall to stop them from rolling around. That way you can store them upright and have more space for other luggages.

honestly what a life saver 😭😭💜 i’m heading to japan next week and am planning on going one way from tokyo to osaka via shinkansen!! I didn’t even know about the limited luggage storage space on the carriages (and I’m travelling with a big luggage since it’s a 2 week trip) so thank you!!!!

I have traveled on high speed trains all around the world, but I still prefer Japan's "bullet train" and the Green seats. it is worth the extra price for the comfort and experience. Thanks for the tips Paolo.

I am glad you did this. Before our last trip to Japan in October 2018, I searched for a video on this topic and found some rather poor examples. I was able to make our way to the shikansen from Kyoto to Tokyo last time but knowing more now may help us save some money for our next trip back in February. :)

Definitely book those tickets in advance if you can! Once my JR pass expired (21 days), I had to stand in long lines to buy shinkansen tickets

For people visiting Japan and plan to do a few travel journeys by train I would highly recommend a Japan rail pass. You have to buy it prior to going to Japan and then collect your pass in Japan. It allows you to use the Shinkansen and JR trains for free whenever you want! As long as you do enough trips it's cheaper than buying tickets and you don't have to worry about buying the wrong ticket or missing a train as you just get another ticket lol. You can also speed past mount Fuji as many times as you like! I'd suggest pay extra for the Green cart. It's quieter and much more comfortable / enjoyable and you'll always find space to put large size suitcases behind the back seats. Also, avoid visiting Japan when they have holidays as the trains get super busy. I wanted to ride the line to then end at Amoroi from Tokyo in their most fancy first class for fun. Regrettably, due to the holidays I could only get a ticket their and not back. So maybe next time. If you are visiting during the holidays reserve all your seats as soon as you get your pass. Cheers!
