Personally, I feel like Petey has the most heartbreaking character development ever.

His earlier appearances depict him being a villainous sociopath who’s wanting to destroy the world in his own eyes. But with the introduction of Lil’ Petey, he has developed into more like Bowser from the Super Mario series. Petey wanted his son to be just like him, wanting to teach him to be a someone like him, he wants to be a proud father and a villain at the same time- not until new villains came around.
The new villains end up painting Petey as a tragedy, more as a misunderstood villain who just wanted revenge against the world. The newer books made him more understandable as a character, and it reflects Lil’ Petey as a figure of light who Petey wanted to be safe. Petey wants to be a great villain unlike his father, he wants to justify himself all because he had his own vendetta against the world.

Petey isn’t a bad cat like how witches depict black cats to be evil, Petey is a misunderstood villain who has become an anti-heroic father.

Tbf, Petey is probably my favorite Dog Man character along with Lil’ Petey.

I'm gonna be honest Petey has gotta be one of my favorite characters not just in Dog Man but in all of fiction as well.

Little cool theory for future books i have is that since living spray is a thing and Petey's mom is dead, this could lead to a way to bring her back from the dead, especially since Petey is the only one who has the last supply of living spray

Petey came so far with so much pain, anguish and sadness, but ever since Li'l Petey came into his life, he suddenly found out that he's able to love and find hope again that he strives to becomes a hero and a loving father, and strives to be his best and even got pardoned from jail and is also friends with Dog Man and they both even share custody of Li'l Petey, so let's hope in The Scarlett Shedder it doesn't go all downhill.
