There’s actually more than one hint. The most obvious hint is in the cover for the art of dogman book where he is clearly shown. Theres petey with 5 whiskers, as you mentioned, but there is a part in the beginning where we see glimpses of the cloning machine. This is made clear by the buttons, there are buttons that represent cloning, and mention popcorn, which, lil petey loves popcorn! While it was used in the trailer for Dogman it does hint that Dogman isn’t the only thing that gets created, and that lil petey also gets created

Well I just wanted to tell you I think it is confirmed that little PD is going to be here because in one of the movie posters Dogman picks up little PD in a free kitty box so I think it’s confirmed that little PD will be in the movie just only he’s not as important as in the books(but I’m not sure if that other poster is official the one I was talking about)

Well when petey is seen setting on the chair right before he rips the hero thing up you can see he has six whiskers, so he loses the one whisker later on to create lil petey so I think lil petey will be in the movie
