Physical peaks are only relevant for world-class athletes, as they are the only ones who actually reach them. For the rest of us who aren't anywhere near our actual potential, we can still reach a personal peak within all of the subjects a lot later in life, but it's entirely dependant on how much effort and time we put into it.

As a 47 year old, I leant to see things this way: I cannot be better than a 20 year old peak version of me, but since at my 20s I never reached my peak, I can be better than the 20 year old man I used to be. It’s not impossible. It’s just harder. If you have 1 year running 15 minutes a day at your 50s, you’re probably be better at running than 90% of people of any generation, because most people don’t run.

I‘m 44 and my sport is long distance running. I started at age 30 with a PB of 45:19 on the 10k. Since then I gradually improved and ran a PB every calendar year. I’m at 36:52 now for 2024.

I’m in the shape of my life. I hope to break my 100k PB next year and run it in under 8 hours. Wish me luck! 🍀

Just turned 35 a month ago. Started lifting at 19. I've talked to gym friends about this but we all agree that most of the "aches and pains" most 30 yr Olds complain about, we simply do not feel. It's not a flex, just a reminder that in addition to physique, "How we feel" is much more important for staying in shape. And you can start now. There's a book "Start Late Finish Rich" It's all about starting now. Like as soon as you finish reading this sentence💯

06:45 please never stop adding those data calculations in your video when you do them! This is fascinating. If you find the time and Motivation many viewers would definitely value a guide to using, calculating amd visualising data via programms!

I talked about this with my 95 year old grandpa a few weeks ago. According to his experience, the best time of your life is from your 40s to your 60s. When you're younger, you're still dealing with stuff like building a career and starting a family. And when you're older, age starts to catch up with you. But think about how life is when you're between 40 and 60. You made it. You have lots of experience in your job and reached the position you wanted. You have a wife and kids. You have a stable social life with friends that you've known for decades. On the other hand, you are not yet old. You can stil run a marathon. You might not win it, but you can surely cross the finish line.

Man I spent my childhood chasing girls, riding my bike, playing video games and competing in basketball and track and field in school. Spent my teens shying away from girls, but still partying, smoking weed, drinking, skipping school to skateboard or go dirt biking. Experimented with a lot of other different types of drugs aswell lol. 19 to 29 I was in a committed relationship, worked payed bills, had a back injury and struggled with opioid dependence. Had a family, kid dog cat and even an iguana. Now I’m 31, single dad. I feel like I’ve lived 3 different lifetimes already and I feel like I’ve learned things that most people don’t learn until their in there 40s. I’m hoping my 30s will be good bcuz I’ve fucked up enough times now to know how to get things really dialed in lol

I was stronger in the gym at 30 at a lighter bodyweight than I was at 28 at my biggest. Now at 31, I'm at my current ever peak in strength and continue to rise

I believe that life is full of peaks and valleys, but that when you zoom out, all of life can be a continuous climb towards betterment, understanding, and growth. Through the experiences of being young and looking forward, to then growing old and looking back. It’s all part of the journey we each get to embark on. I hope that you all are learning and growing, wherever you are, upon your own mountain.

I’m 42 and I find it amusing how this suggest some mental peak at twenties. The way I remember it, we were pretty much emotionally unstable in twentysomethings. All your friends are kinda jerks and you drink too much alcohol. 30’s were more stable but more depressed and competing with your peers. Life truly starts at 40’s, and 100% of my friends in their 40’s and 50’s agree. Everything just gets easier, you’re smarter than ever before, and people of your age become genuinely nicer 😊

I also peaked physically at 23. I broke my shoulder that year and have never been the same. Still in great shape, but pain and fear of injury has kept me from ever pushing myself again.

This is why I always thought physicists are happier as people than world class athletes or movie stars. It might sound good on the surface but you peak so early in life. Whereas most nobel prize laureates are in their 70s. You have so much more to look forward to as your work bears fruit much later on in life.

Started competing in Ironman races at 40. Did my PB at 48. Last race at 58. Still fit today. 'Peak' is determined by work ethic and goal setting. Some never peak because they never tri.
