Lyrics:
Hey, little girl, is your daddy home?
Did he go and leave you all alone?
I got a bad desire
Oh-oh-oh, I'm on fire

Tell me now, baby, is he good to you?
And can he do to you the things that I do? Oh, no
I can take you higher
Oh-oh-oh, I'm on fire

Sometimes it's like someone took a knife, baby, edgy and dull
And cut a six-inch valley through the middle of my skull
At night I wake up with the sheets soaking wet
And a freight train running through the middle of my head
Only you can cool my desire
Oh-oh-oh, I'm on fire
Oh-oh-oh, I'm on fire
Oh-oh-oh, I'm on fire

I remember hearing this song back in April/May of 1985 when I was in basic training in San Diego for the Navy and every time I hear this song I remember those days

It's a great song. I am surprised it wasn't on his Greatest Hits package. Also, very surprised the album wasn't remastered and made into a box set like some of his other albums.

The best time: the 80s and 90s. Missing those great times.

"Can he do to you the things that I do, oh no, I can take you higher"
It 's pretty obvious he isn 't referring to her father, guys, so stop quarreling

Some of these comments are from people who do protest to much. It is a beautifully crafted song about wanting something you know you can never have. She's a married woman. Not an under aged child. I mean come on.

I've always wondered why one of the best hits of the Boss lasts only two minutes ❤

For some of you younguns, little girl doesnt mean girl under age. The questions are silly...is the Im on Fire lyrics O !
Song of lust...The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and The Rolling Stones to mention just a few, use the phrase ' Little girl ' in multiple songs. 🤗 🤗 🤗

Magnificent music. Bruce is maybe the greatest singer-songwriter of all time. The sheer number of great songs he’s written and recorded is staggering.

As someone who occasionally writes poetry, I totally get that this can be interpreted in many different ways, and that the song has different meanings for different people. That's the beauty of lyricism. (Read More)

As a true crime buff, this song has an eerie exactness to the way many sophisticated predators have successfully assaulted or abducted their victims. Stalk the home, learn the patterns of the children and parents, pass through the neighborhood to see if the child is home alone, then approach the door under pretext to get the child to open it.

Point being, I can see both sides. The romantic-at-heart saying its a love song poetically versed, and the pragmatically aware saying, "Yo! This is creepy AF."
