Ferguson being up there in defence stats is very impressive, when you considered his years in St Mirran and Aberdeen, as well as the early years at united when they were average to poor. Not to mention how many years and how many games he actually managed, and the fact that he didn't manage in the overly tactical eras for most of his career and was never known for his teams being particularly defensive.
