No one has ever fixed traffic adding more capacity, and many have tried. Having tunnels is just like adding more lanes, just underground. Cars are very inefficient both in terms of space and energy consumption not to mention not green at all, regardless if it runs on gas, diesel or electricity. The fact that Elon has been able to sell this incredibly stupid idea along with many others (like Hyperloop) is testament to his ability as a salesman. At this point I'm pretty sure he would be able to sell a monorail.

That background music is too loud & distracting. You also state that the Denmark project cost 389, 000, 000, 000 per mile, but display the figure 389, 000, 000. Later on, you show the figure 3.89, 000, 000, 000 as the total cost of the You seem distracted - maybe it's down to that bloody music.

Surely the TBC cost of $10m per mile is just for the tunnelling. That’s the easy part. Stations, lifts, ramps, fit out are much harder.

Each tunnel will have a safe capacity but what is the safe headway at 150 mph?

At least they are building a system so these questions will be answered soon.

so basically they're going to build smaller tunnels and that'll be cheaper ... how "innovative"

for real tho the boring company isn't anything special, compared to other companies that do the same thing they're basically just another tunnelling company. they've not invented anything, elon musk just made up a bunch of garbage about TBM's that wasn't true (for example most modern models do continuously tunnel and build as they go) in order to sell cars and distract from real solutions that might compete with his profits i.e. busses, trams, trains or best of all, rapid transit metros

he's a blood emerald funded car salesman, he's a pretty good car salesman at that. but he's still nothing more than a car salesman

also adding lanes doesn't help, provably. we've tried it, it doesn't work. there will ALWAYS be more cars than you have lanes. loop is a terrible idea that he doesn't even believe in because again he's a car salesman

How do you miss the part where the tunnel only works with Teslas? I cannot understand how you could compare that to the City Circle Line which is inexpensive and available to the Demark's public.

Boring company tunnels have massive potential for use in water infrastructure. One third of all electricity in California is used to pump water up and down mountains. So a tunnel connecting the San Joaquin Sacramento Delta to Los Angeles would save a ton of power and a tunnel connecting the Columbia River to the Central Valley would provide enough water to irrigate a farm or forest the size of rhode island

Okay I'm sorry but since nobody made the joke already or at least I don't think so:
This video was quite... boring ;D
(jkjk I love your content currently binging your whole channel)

You lost any credibility at the start when you said current TBMs run on diesel. They run on electricity. Need to do a bit more research into the current tunnelling technology.
Cityringen is a fantastic piece of infrastructure for the people of Copenhagen.
All the exponents of TBC never talk about the real challenge of Tunnelling.... water.

In Los Angeles earthquake safety is paramount and while not so obvious, underground tunnels are far less prone to seismic upheaval! The energy exerted by a quake is accentuated at the surface where the forces concentrate into waves bending, snapping, and pulling structures apart. Whereas further underground the quake moves land uniformly, or relatively, not at all. So when Los Angeles has its underground Boring network it is likely the only way to conduct mass transit immediately after a major temblor.

Always nice to catch up on the boring company news. @8:20 you show 389, 000, 000 which is 389 million (not billion). Good video.

The length of the Las Vegas Loop is 0.8 miles, so shorter than the tunnel build before. That does not mean it is not "better", but better does not imply longer.

Musk also greatly overstated the slowness of conventional tunneling: if they don’t encounter any geological challenges a normal TBM can achieve about 40 meters per day. Meaning they achieve a mile of tunneling after 40 days - not 3-6 months as stated by Musk. I’m a fan of Musk but his Boring Company will not really work that way. Not every city has easy geological environments like Vegas or Austin. For Europe he would also have to take ventilation and escape tunnels into account.

PLEASE get rid of the background 'music' or at least reduce its volume; it's very tiring to listen to your commentary with the too-loud noise in the background.

I found your channel yesterday and have binged probably about 60% of them so far. LOVE your content, I'm glad the YT algorithm seems to be favoring your channel currently. Can't wait for more and I'll continue going through your backlog!

I think it has a use for tunnels for trains but not for some 50 cars taking 5-15 minutes in the tunnel and having driver in them

Make some more videos on boring company. There are very less coverage on TBC.

Lmao my mans drooling over a worse and less efficient train.

The key to improving the economics is to remove the manual labor from the tunnel and have automation mangers.
