I remember him. We were the same age. John Travolta made a movie about him called The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

That is sad. That boy never got to enjoy just being a child. And passed way to young and never got to have a life.

The saddest thing that he didn't die from the disorder that made him have an extremely closed up life, but from something that was completely avoidable.

I had a friend with scid. She was deaf as well. I met her online. She was such an inspiring person, a wonderful artist, and very kind to everyone she met. She passed away a few years ago after her bone marrow transplant. Although we were never the closest of friends, I still think about her sometimes. She was so strong and went through so much but still managed to stay positive. I miss her.

On a positive side, maybe since he never got to experience what we thought would be a good life for him, to him it was still a good life since he never knew anything else. And he got to live much longer than normal due to the technology that helped him.

Back in 1976 John Travolta played him in the movie boy in the bubble and then years later they come out with a more comedy one it's sad but big props to all the people that tried to help him live his best life

I remember seeing a picture of David in the newspaper in the late 70's there was another young boy who was suffered severe to life threatening airborne allergies. I don't remember his name however he was featured on a local TV show in the Bay Area Evening Magazine, and he was fitted with a bubble hood with a highly efficient filtration air system.

I remember the movie, and in the end of the movie, he dreams about being able to go outside, when in reality, he was only imagining as his condition got worse. Rest in peace, you deserve to be able to do so much more.
