Pro-Ject Debut Carbon EVO is what I have and love it! Such an incredible turntable for the money and I'm excited to start upgrading parts on it soon.

I own both the Fluance RT81 and RT85. They are terrific turntables at a reasonable price. They come highly recommended.

I started my Turntable journey in 1963 with a Duall 1009 rim drive table. Next in 1965 i upgraded to a Thorens DT 150 belt drive without tonearm. I bought an ADC Pritchard wood tonearm for the Thorens. Cartridge was a ADC 10E which tracked at 1 gram. Next was a Thorens TD 125 Electronic turntable belt drive without arm.The JH Formula 4 unipivot arm from Australia was released, which i connected to the TD 125 with the Shure V15 type 3 cartridge. In 1990 i bought one of the first Pro-Ject turntables the 6.1. 10 years later was the Project 6 Perpex magnetic suspension turntable. I changed the supplied arm with a Hadcock GH242 Uni-pivot tonearm from England. Latest cartridge is a Denon low output moving coil cartridge. Each change of turntable, arm, and cartridge resulted in palpable improvement from the record.

Really nice lineup. You get so much sound for the money with these tables.

Great review as always. If you have to choose between planar 2 and debut carbon evo assuming they are at the same price. Which one would you with and if possible why? Thanks.

I'm a vinyl enthusiast and I live in Brazil. Here the information is very scarce. My intention is to listen to vinyl records and I currently have a Marantz PM8006 Amplifier, Elipson Prestige Facet 8B speakers and a Turnable AT-LP1240 with Ortofon 2m RED.

I want to change my capsule, I wanted to buy an ortofon 2m black. However, I was unsure whether I should also change my AT-LP1240 since it is more aimed at DJs (I didn't really understand this at the time I bought it).

My question is: Should I actually change the AT-LP1240? I thought about purchasing a Raga Planar 3 or Pro-ject RPM 3, or perhaps even a Pro-Ject 1Xpression. Is changing the record player really recommended? Should I really get another sound experience with better quality for my purpose?

I already know the capsule is terrible and should at least go to an Ortofon 2m Silver!
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Just bought an Empire 208 at a garage sale in Manhattan on 18th St. for $200 including vintage Pickering V15 cartridge. That's the best turntable to buy.

What about the Fluance RT85? You can get it with an Ortofon 2M Blue or a Nagaoka MP110 for $500.

New subscriber, because of your well detailed and organized material. Some of the best presentations I've seen and have left feeling confident in my decision making. Just wondering if audio technica is still a decent turntable. And which would fit into your price ranger sorter and rankings. Noob here so I'm just learning. But have known audio technica to be among the best so just curious why I didn't see any here

I like your content.. only thing I don’t like is your answering service. It’s impossible to get someone on the phone.

This is not easy - You confused me between Rega 2 and 3 and the price difference I'll say "it is a lot" .. What about between the EVO and Rega2? which on you will recommend ?

Why was the rega planar 3 stylus blurred?

Nice looking turntables out there but to me it is really the cartridges that make the difference. What a $2k turntable really differs sound wise from a $500 with the same cartridge?? I would like to see such comparison.
