Audio-Technica LP60X: What to know before you buy
It's a great little turntable. I have one still, and I love it still. It's perfect for people looking to just be able to setup and get going, it's NOT perfect for people who want to upgrade and do fine tuning, or take their turntabling to the next level.

This is my first turntable and I love it! I am going to upgrade in a few years but this is a great starting point and the sound is fantastic. I know there will be people who complain but as a starting point to an ever expanding catalog of record players this is a good start while you learn and research the next steps.

Cheers for the to-the-point info, the lengthy preview with good equipment, and the actual "is this worth it" at the end! When researching new things to invest my money into, it's nice having an actual opinion that doesn't leave me with more analysis paralysis.

During pandemic period I bought At lp60xbt for two reasons: a. for to replace Nad 5125 that stop to work after many years in use and b. all stores was closed and was difficult to find something else . I bought in offer for 170 euros from a big greek chain of stores . It was not my first choice. But when I listen in my system for first time was very happy because the sound of this turntable was a very pleasant surprise! Detailed quite without distortion and very pleasant! I think very lucky a really love this turntable! ❤😊

I’ve. Seen some comments elsewhere complaining about this not being upgradable, or not “ audiophile” worthy- of course not. It’s <$200. What do you expect ! I’m getting for my daughter as her first, and I think she will love it.

I bought one of these recently as a second turntable for first plays and testing of second-hand records from junk shops, record fairs and Discogs. My main turntable is a Rega Planar 8 with Apheta 3 going into the MC input of a Rega Aria phono stage, so the Audio Technica plugged nicely into the MM input and I can flip between the two using the front switch on the Aria. I wanted something that was cheap but not nasty, and that had a removable/replacable stylus so it could sustain the kind of abuse I was planning to give it without going beyond beer money in expense, and the AT met my requirements perfectly.

I don't suppose many people run one of these through a Rega Aria, but it's surprisingly good; the Aria cleans and tightens the output and lets the intrinsic quality of the AT come through fully; it's obviously not going to compete with the Planar 8, but it's not too shabby at all and can certainly give a good account of itself.

I fully agree with one of the attractions of a deck like this being that there's no setup or faffing about involved (the same is true of the Planar 8). 20 years ago I might have had to be held back from going down that rabbit hole, but these days I just want something I can take out of the box, plonk down on a level surface, plug in and start playing music on.

some older record players from the 60's, 70's and 80's used tracking force anywhere from 2 to 6 *!* grams, so please, don't let them get to you. this will not damage your records, what so ever. This is a fine entry record player that sounds fantastic for it's price, nobody should be scared to buy it.

3:15 Thank you for saying this! i had the lp60x for 2 years and now started to see people saying it "destroys your records" on reddit💀 a lot of them said it also had skipping issues which at least to me was non existent.
only thing i'm questioning right now is if it's bad it doesn't have a counterweight because i heard it's very important for record players.

Will I need to buy external speakers? Amazon says it comes with built in speakers but everything I have seen on reviews and stuff says I will need speakers

Passive sounds are a bit overpass and active sounds are more true (opinion and ears, My left ear is "quieter" than my right ear, and I'm using old headphones)

Edit: That was a very fast Review, I'm glad I can listen fast.

Thank you for this. Question. You showed the red and yellow stylus. Are those compatible upgrades? I love my turntable but I started doing lives on TT where I’m spinning about 40 hours a week. I’ve had no problems thus far but should/can I just change the cartridge or do you think it would be beneficial to upgrade to one of those other needles. Also any other accessory necessities would be appreciated as well. I’ve seen some spaces saying to get a ceramic top instead of the mat it comes with but seems divided whether it actually helps with static or just more asthetically pleasing. Any advice I woulf greatly appreciate

Huge fan of Fluance. I run an Rt 82. Run it through a Darlington labs MM 6 B phono amp with a VM 95 Series At cart. Sounds fantastic. Though I could see buying something like this for one of my children.
