Good video! As someone in the field of clinical psychology & specializes more specifically in clinical neuropsychology, I just want to add a little more information. Clinical psychologists go through 6-7 years of doctoral education & training, which includes a 1-year APA (American Psychological Association) Clinical Internship via the National Matching Services, followed by Postdoctoral Fellowship. For clinical neuropsychologists, 2-year postdoctoral fellowship is required.

Clinical psychologists are scientists who obtain strong research skills & receive extensive clinical knowledge in psychopathology via the DSM, coursework, research, externships/practica, clinical internship, & postdoctoral fellowships. We use the biological, psychological, and social framework (i.e., biopsychosocial). We're able to diagnose patients; administer psychological assessments, intelligence tests, & personality test. So, psychotherapy is ONLY a small portion of what we do.

Lastly, clinical psychologists are actually able to prescribe psychotropic medications in 7 states (i.e., New Mexico, Louisiana, Illinois, Iowa, Idaho, Colorado, & Utah) as well as the Public Health Service, Indian Health Service, the U.S. Military, the Department of Defense, & the U.S. territory of Guam.

Perhaps the easiest way to differentiate the two professions is just to say that a psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialised in mental health.
