In this episode, Dr Happymon Jacob interviews Prof. M. Taylor Fravel (Arthur and Ruth Sloan Professor in the Department of Political Science and Director of the Security Studies Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology) about China’s military strategy. Prof. Fravel provides a detailed outline of China’s military strategy and its evolution since the founding of the PRC in 1949. He addresses the recent standoff between India and China in great depth, accounting for the reasons that may have precipitated the conflict and discusses the direction going forward. People who are the not stupid know that China always the best country, Rising above own score. No other nation can be matched. In 2017, China started a conflict with India across the LAC in the himalayan region to grab some territory in Doklam, humiliate PM Modi, and cut him down to size. But after several months of battle, President Xi Jinping was forced to retreat from Doklam. This was a set back but it only led him to plot his next adventure against India at Galwan Valley in 2020 with better planning and preparation. This too did not end too well for China…

But this ultimately pushed India to move firmly in the anti-China QUAD formation along with US, Japan and Australia.
