I’ve also lived in China for some years and have had the same experience with the locals there... nothing but warmth and kindness

कई जीत बाकी है कई हार बाकी है,
अभी तो जिंदगी का सार बाकी है,
यहां से चले हैं नई मंजिल के लिए,
यह तो एक पन्ना था, अभी तो पूरी किताब बाकी है ।।🌺🌸 🌸🌺

Excellent interview. Anant Krishnan very lucidly explains the reasons of phenomenonal prosperity of China. Modi very foolishly misunderstood China.

As Chinese capital is no longer welcomed in India, Vietnam and Bangladesh will strengthen their positions in international supply chain.

Good interview but need to re-read Simon Leys (Pierre Rykmans) and George Orwell.

The bottom line is whether or not the average Indian (lower middle class to middle-middle class) is happier than the average Chinese under their respective governments and political systems. One must exclude the upper middle class and the creamy layer at the top and those at the very bottom, as their responses are already known. Does this segment (average Indian) of the people actually derive any benefits of a democratic system, or is that just on paper? India has realized that democracy has been a failure and has been attempting to mimic Chinese policies by adopting a similar tightly controlled, top-down approach. It was perhaps something India needed to do right after independence. Indira Gandhi attempted it in the 70s with the emergency, but the decadent and corrupt private sector back then scuttled her efforts because they did not want to be held more accountable or become more efficient in a manner that would have required them to be more equitable with their resources.

A very muddled discussion. Even when Mr. Krishnan makes the right observations he cloaks it with a whole lot of bromide talk. If he actually believes that those villagers opened their heart to him whey they were meeting for the first time in their life with him then I am sad to say that he is grossly gullible. People-to-people meeting are useful only when it is between free people without any fear from the local authorities and it is not so in China.
Bottom line is that China feels superior and made a move of a few kilometers over an barren landscape when they sensed an opportunity during Covid crisis. Now that when they see Indian army blocking their way they will not make a risky move.

Glibe anaylasis not worthy of a high school discussion. Not having being in China since 2018 gives him credentials for post covid/370/ Ladhak is silly.

Here are few excerpts from the book. page 157
"Some foreigners with full bellies and nothing better to do", remarked the Chinese gentleman in a sharp suit, 'engage in finger pointing at us. But China does not export revolution. Second, it does not support famine and poverty. And third, it does not mess around you. So what else is there to say'

Mr. Krishnan you can now reply, well you export virus and pandemic !
