Hi guys, have you heard of dandelion tea or coffee?, well it is a special kind of tea that can aid weight loss, it is primarily made from roasted roots of dandelion plant. although dandelion is often considered a weed, it can help you lose weight due to some of its effects on the system like,
1, it's diuretic effects, dandelion is rich in potassium which makes it effective in increasing urine production which sheds water weight.
2. Dandelion improves endurance and stamina for workouts, this means longer hours during exercises or workouts, this will indirectly cause more fat burn.
Also dandelion tea can be used to replace caffeine rich coffee, so if you're finding it hard to quit coffee, consider replacing it with the delicious dandelion drink.

Now, to prepare dandelion tea or coffee, firstly they usually come in capsule, dried powders or tea bags. Dandelion can also be found in your garden and almost everywhere. But try not to mistake another plant for it, as some plants resemble it. If you aren't sure which plant in your garden is dandelion, it is better to ask an expert.
To prepare, wash the dandelion roots well, cut them into small pieces then put them in an oven to roast and dry for two hours on high temperature.
Ensure they are properly dried and brown all through.
Then put 1-2 teaspoons of the roasted roots in 1-2 cups of hot water close to boiling for a period of 10 to 15 minutes.
Then extract the roots with a strainer and let it cool.
Like coffee making, grind the root extract in a coffee grinder and brew using French press.
You can now serve.
If you like you can add honey, milk or maple syrup.

Dandelion tea is safe although some side effects may occur due to its diuretic abilities, it may cause frequent urinating, dehydration which causes dizziness, nausea, headaches, tiredness, blurry vision, muscle cramp and of course thirst.
Furthermore, dandelion may cause allergic reactions for some people, pregnant and nursing women best avoid this drink because no study has proved it safe for them.
