Souness has hit the headlines after critics branded his comment as sexist whilst in the company of Karen Carney. "It's a man's game again". This has been taken out of context as he was referring to players giving their all and making the game more enjoyable by showing passion and commitment.

Nothing wrong with Souness’s comments. It’s is a man’s game the vast majority of people that watch it & play are males. Most women could not name an woman’s England player or any player in their hometown.
Take these women commentators off also, they are irritating, they have their own soccer!

The phrase mans game doesn't even refer to gender it refers to age

I am a Man Utd follower, so have no natural affection for Graeme Souness, however he was clearly talking in the context of the mens game, not the sport per se. And he's right in that context, the rules/refereeing was bleeding the fun out of a contact sport. This does not mean there is not a women's game in fact I enjoy the skills on show and they way they play it, which is refreshingly different. In reality, the sheer physical power of the men means they play a different game to the women and it must be said that the women are more sporting in the way they play. Furthermore, I am sure Karen Carney does not need anyone to 'protect' her - she is a former elite athlete, with all that entails.

It's time sky stopped putting these dorises in the studio. They're bland commentary is irritating and on top of that, they've probably left a big pile of ironing sitting at home whilst they are in hanging the mens studio area.
