Maybe I'm just imagining things, but it feels like they use really subtle, clever filming to get you slowly comfortable with Hanus over time. At the beginning, he's lit unevenly, with harsh, cold lighting, and framed to appear large and menacing. Even the music is tense and anxious, to make him unnerving. Look at him in the very first scene here, where his dull blacks and greys stand out against the room, and the harsh contrast with the bright room causes his finer, more human features to blend, so your eyes spot the spider silhouette before anything else. Or here at 0:10 where most of him is actually blurred by the depth of field, causing him to blend with the shadows.

But then, as we start getting more used to him, he slowly starts to change. Compare 1:06 where the framing intentionally hides his legs, and emphasizes his goofy little nose: a detail you probably didn't even notice in the first few scenes. Or 1:15 where he's put in a playful pose, and notably, he's lit brighter than the background, so he stands out more and is easier to spot.
At 1:47 they use warmer tones, and hide most of his body, blurring his silhouette but highlighting his face, without the monstrous features.

Notice at 1:56 we get the return of that droning tension music, the lighting has returned to that green tinged, high contrast look, and his pose hides the only human part of him: his face, instead giving you a very clear and obvious spider silhouette, specifically in the one scene that is meant to make him look intimidating once more.

Finally, in the most emotional scene at the end, around 3:05 he's very brightly lit by a warm light, softening and exposing all of his details.
