Tracing is a good way to learn though. If you just want to fill up a sketchbook and aren't planning on showing it off or passing it as your own tracing is fine to do.

i love finding random photos online (especially from movies) and tracing to learn anatomy, clothes, and poses. has really helped. i’ve been able to freehand lots of stuff lately

i think it’s situational. for example, if you were learning how to consistently mimic a human anatomy with different shapes, it could be helpful to trace a picture or a different artwork to get the most basic shapes down

Tbh the only times tracing is okay is if you’re trying to learn anatomy from it or if you’re using a base or credit whoever you traced if you trace an actual artwork

Tracing is good for studying artists to learn but there is always something called “Copy Right” and you should mention the original artist if you are going to use your traced art anywhere official. (Of course, some official competitions or others might not allow traced art pieces and don’t forget to ask before doing so!)
