My husband worked for the city water department. This is close to the sewer treatment plant. Don't eat the vegetables that will come up in the sewage plant. They may look beautiful but more than likely they have E Coli. It's just not safe. He use to show me photos of the volunteer vegetables that would grow there. Nobody would eat the stuff. The University in town wanted to test it and found it was loaded with nasty stuff.

Mushroom rings are pretty common. They're sometimes called faerie rings, and can indicate the edges of the rest of the fungus underground. The mushrooms are just the fruit of a larger fungus that lives underground. Some are huge. One of the largest living organisms in the world is a fungus. Through DNA testing they've discovered it's over 3 square miles, and lives primarily underground in a forest in Oregon, USA.

The "odd looking plant growing on our normal looking cactus": 1st, I don't think that's a cactus. I believe it msy be an Haworthia. 2nd, that odd looking plant on it?? Is it's bloom!
