He 100% did. Ordering her a glass of milk was the first dead giveaway. Making her wait for non-kosher cream to eat with her Strudel was him toying with her being Jewish. It’s what made him such a great villian, he was always 1 step ahead until the very end.

Another revealing aspect is that Landa ordered a glass of milk for Soshanna. He was clearly referring to his visit at the French farmhouse where Shoshanna and her family were hidden.

The cigarette butt in the unfinished strudel to me is like saying that the dish wasn’t the treat, but tormenting Shoshanna was.

That's the mystery Tarantino deliberately kept. I guess.. certain cues like an unfinished strudel may shed some light despite him saying it's the best place for strudel in town

Dont forget when he says "after you" before eating the strudles, telling her he's still hunting her .
Two : in the frensh dub, the strudles name is "ou je trouve" that means "where I find" so clearlyyy he was aware and pressuring her

This video made Landa even more interesting

Landa would have looked into every aspect of the theater. He would have known about the owners. It may be that he didn't know exactly who Shoshanna was, but knew who she wasn't. And, was playing his game of cat and mouse to find out.

Yes. He’d already done all the background checks because he already knew about her projectionist. So he also knew that her story about the aunt and uncle were bogus. He likely would have had a photo of Shoshana Dreyfus anyway because it’s known that all French citizens 12 and over were required to have photo identification when Germany took over as mandated by the Vichy government. And don’t forget that in the opening scene he knew it was Shoshana running away and not one of her sisters, without even seeing her face. So he definitely knew what she looks like.

He might be a monster, but he still considers himself a perfect gentleman.

It's unsporting to kill someone without giving them a head start.

Hans Landa thought he landed a Gold Mine with Shoshanna.

Then he chanced upon von Hammersmark's signature in the tavern... Hans Landa is so brilliant that he realized immediately that he just won a Get Out of a Jewish Tribunal card.

Hans Landa was very lucky twice in that movie. The thing about luck is that you need to play your cards right to cash out. Landa played his hand perfectly.

Terrantino movies will be enjoyed and studied for as long as we are here.

Brilliant acting. Tarantino has a very different brain. His movies are extremely intense and entertaining, but they are fantasy, just enjoy.

Hans lets her go because he doesn't recognize her, but the audience wouldn't feel Shoshana's anxiety unless it was set up like he may have known.

People debate whether he knew who she was or not, me personally I find the ending of the scene atleast a compelling reason for the argument that he did know who she was. That's his usual "I already know everything you're not telling me/checkmate" look he gives her.

That character is so damn good that i would love to see a post war sequel with Landa in the US. Or maybe 10 years later in East Germany deep within the Stasi apparatus.

I saw a post in instagram today sayin sth about Hebrew meal etc. regarding Landa's order so I though I leave my comment on this scene: Landa recognizes Shoshana at the first glance from behind, he doesn't forget to order the cream and he does it on purpose to see how nervous Shoshana is because ehen people are nervous they try to hide it by eating, and he mocks Shoshana sayin in a musical tune" wait for the cream", finally he says sth like I had another wuestion for now and for the sake of mine, I forgot it; he obviously knows the girl is Shoshana but also knows hitler demise is close, hence, his "terms of conditional surronder".
My Respect,

As soon as I saw him ask for milk I knew he knew.... The rest of the scene I was hoping for Shoshanna's safety

He always did his homework. He was at least eighty per cent sure, but he still administered a few tests to make her uncomfortable. Even so, he let her go. One assumes she would have been arrested or killed after the movie-within-the-movie was finished
