How To Be Effortlessly Confident

Aragorn from Lord of The Rings is the embodiment of a psychological concept that I’ve become obsessed with...

The Archetype of the King.

So in this video I want to dive into the archetype of the king, its characteristics, and discuss how you can apply that mature king energy to YOUR own life to maximize your natural self confidence.

My Fellow Kings - may we always fight for what is right, to be our best, and to protect those we love.
Respect, gentlemen.
Stay humble.

Good to see you again mate - Aragorn is the best modern example of masculinity I am aware of. Strong, disciplined, gentle, kind, healer, insightful, unassuming (confident and humble) leader!

😭 I love this!!
What you said about fighting for something reminds me of another man in lotr who has some strong king energy.
"I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, nor the arrow for its swiftness, nor the warrior for his glory. I love only that which they defend." - Faramir

Casually dropping the groundbreaking insight that Batman is a people pleaser, which was completely invisible to me and is now completely obvious. Incredible work

What you say around the 6-minute mark about oppositional defiance reminds me of the famous GK Chesterton quote:

"The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him."

I've battled addiction over 20 years, watching my daughter grow without me being present and letting life pass me by while I was in a smoke cloud of complacent people pleasing. I have been sober for a month now. I wish I could say it's been easy, but I find myself slipping into insecurity and doubt constantly. I'm always tempted to just disappear back into old "comforting" habits. However, this essay has inspired me to look past my mistakes and feel excited about the future that I can now actively participate in. This video was released at just the right time. I'm glad you found the inspiration to make it, for it has inspired me and I'm sure many others as well. Thank you my friend. Thank you very much ❤

Dude. This was amazing. Feels like the classic videos from the main channel, but with a new flair having instilled various things you've learned from the shadow work, time away and the podcast changes etc... It literally feels like you underwent your own hero's journey and came out the other side more clairvoyant and ready to share a new insight with the audience. You are one of the few youtubers that even 10 years later is still extremely consistent to the original intent of the channel and continues to improve the quality and delivery. I honestly feel instilled with courage after watching this to really look at my life head on after this and face some things I know I've been avoiding. Great video and would love more like this.

I’m a very petite woman so “king energy” is not something I embody frequently 🙈☺️ but I’m a huge LOTR fan and I loved this video! Aragorn is one of the best examples of healthy masculinity ever imo.

I think an interesting nuance that I’m not sure if you touched on is that Aragorn’s confidence does not mean he is free from insecurities. He struggles with his heritage/destiny for a good chunk of the series. But he doesn’t stuff those insecurities down and ignore them, nor does he let them explode out and hurt the people around him or affect his duty toward the fellowship. He shares his feelings with his partner (Arwen), with trusted advisors (Elrond, Gandalf etc). He works through everything in a healthy way, and by the end we get the sense that he really sees himself as the king he’s always been. He’s really such a great character ❤ (And those last lines of his battle speech outside the black gate will never not give me chills.)

Everything comes at the moment it’s meant to, for the past 4 months I’ve been dealing with depression, anxiety & overthinking. It’s cause problems in my relationship & inner self. It came out of nowhere & now I have finally grown out of who I used to be & what I thought was going to be. I’ve found peace again but not fully. I’ll be watching this video again & again to help me understand my own transformation.

This video could not have been uploaded at a better time as it helped me reflect on a few things happening in my personal life lately and to better think of the next steps I want to take. Will rewatch it now again as it triggers something I'm not sure yet how to describe it in English, but it's a positive thing. Thanks for being so inspirational!

Charlie, I've waited for this Aragorn video for a long time, and I had high expectations. This video was far and beyond what I expected. Extremely well done, and thank you for taking the time to let it mature into what it became.

It seems our King has returned! Glad to see you back to original form Charlie!
Have always enjoyed all forms of Dropping In as well as CoC, the last couple videos are a total return to form with new vigor.
I hope you're well and enjoy continuing from here!

I've been praying for something to help me gain much more confidence and get out of my shell and such and here comes this video that has to do with my favorite trilogy of all time and one of my favorite characters of all time. Thank you man!!

And I also thank god for this video as well.

I love it! I've listened to you talk about this topic on the podcast at length and I think you've distilled it into short form beautifully. I particularly think the confronting shame part is poignant for a lot of people. So difficult to notice how many of our behaviors are just avoiding shame, even avoiding thinking about avoiding it because that in itself is shameful! Keep it up king 💪

This video really touched me deeply, as I've been struggling with my confidence lately and I've forgotten what influence Aragorn had on my growing up.
I am inspired to go on a quest to regain my confidence. Thank you!

First rule: be just like you are. Accept your insecurities and try to eliminate them with the mind. But first: always know and accept your limits.

I remember way back when you first talked about how you liked "Like Stories of Old"' 's channel, and here you are with a gem that's just as good (definitely more practical) as his amazing King archetype video!
