AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO sits at the top of the AMD processor stack for graphics workstations. This video take a close-up look at these processors, exploring their differences compared to other CPUs and what workloads they are best suited for.

We also benchmark the latest 64-core Threadripper PRO 5995WX processor against the fastest Intel CPU, the Core i9 12900K, in a variety of specialist workloads to see what speed up you can expect when switching to AMD's latest and greatest workstation CPU.

I primarily use Davinci Resolve to edit and render video. There isn’t a whole lot of fusion composites but I do use the studio version of Resolve and implement fusion effects along with color grading. Would the 5945WX or 5955WX be sufficient or would going with an Intel cpu be more beneficial?

I'm producing original music using a DAW, where I can sometimes be mixing more than 32 separate, high quality audio tracks and I also produce videos for my YouTube channels, one music and the other is a cooking channel that can require a large range of fairly complex and heavy video editing tasks(mainly 4k files). I can't afford anything at the moment as I've been out of work for more than a year🤞that changes! Anyway, I wondered what kind of set up that you might suggest as being more than capable of the workflow I have, thus allowing room to upgrade things like video cameras, audio equipment, software etc. I currently use an iPad pro from 2017, which is simply not quick enough and does really annoying things on both my DAW(garageband)and video editing software(Lumafusion) like deleting tracks I recorded and edited. It's totally destroys my workflow and has me pulling my hair out all the time!! I also use a 3d drawing program to do draw up architectural designs, that the iPad just can't render properly😩

I would like to build a Threadripper computer next time mostly because I’d like to add a lot more hard drive storage without tradeoffs. I think the 24 core would be sufficient for what I have in mind. I’m a hobbyist prosumer or pro wannabe. Do you think that lowest core variant is a good one? What use cases do you see at that level? Thanks!

The reality is that almost no one needs the Pro threadripper, we were just fine with the regular one. But Money is king.. and intel has no answer to it.

I'm just stuck from ordering my workstation as you cannot get an AIO liquid cooler for these beasts..which is insane because going back to air cooler is like going back in time for me

Do you know if and how good these threadripper processors work with pro tools? Can it utilize all the cores?

i don't know why but when i want to open your website my antivirus said it's not secure, anyway i been using xeon and i9 7980xe in past years and i don't know much about hardware, i really love to buy threadripper pro, i was wondering is AMD Threadripper 5000 series ever going to available in market for normal customers? i'm really confused, as you mention "AMD discontinued standard Threadripper, " and there were OEM only, but month ago they said they will be available in the market, yet i can't find any website who sell threadripper 5000 series, are they going to ever release it in market for normal customers or they are oem for ever
