Jeremy Corbyn accused Boris Johnson of leaving a legacy of “poverty, inequality and insecurity” in his speech at the Commons, ahead of the confidence vote.

Boris Johnson listed the achievements he said he was “proud” to have accomplished during his time in office, including Brexit and leading the country out of the pendemic.

“I’m grateful to the prime minister for taking a break from his fantasy tour of this country”, former Labour leader Mr Corbyn said in his intervention.

How it's possible that Corbyn was vilified and Johnson was held up as a hero will always astound me.

If we had an fair and balanced press in this country, we could of an actual decent human being as pm

You can see you genuinely furious Corbyn is at this disgusting, false and self-aggrandising response. Personally I’m right there with him.

Starmer could take some notes. That was almost like we had a Labour leader again for a minute.

14 million people living in poverty, and he counters that with..."we've got unemployment down". Any normal person would be disturbed unemployment is low and poverty is exceptionally high, but NOT a Tory.

“could he take one moment to explain why 14 million people are in poverty?”
*laughter*
string them up, they won’t learn

I remember asking working class people in my office to vote Jeremy Corbyn, with most laughing and saying they are voting Conservative. These are the same people who moan every shift about money and conditions. They now blame Jeremy Corbyn for "letting the Tories Some people just never take responsibility for their own actions and political ignorance.

I’m fed up of hearing the retort of addressing poverty as ‘well we’ve reduced unemployment’. Aye but the wages for all these jobs you’ve given people haven’t risen to match inflation in years. Many people who are technically employed still have to claim benefits to get by. Current minimum wage is not a living wage

Rishi sunak over Jeremy corbyn, a billionaire over someone who gave his entire life to the working class, what has the world become

All corbyn has ever done in his entire life is stand up for his constituents and those most impoverished. Yet our media did everything it could to denigrate him, and even flying in an Israeli to talk badly about him. We deserved a decent human like corbyn as PM but that wouldn't please the establishment.

Sure for a country who claim to be one of the richest in the western world it is shameful to have so many issues about poverty unresolved. 😡

What's the point of this whole thing if Boris literally never answers a single question?

When Jeremy Corbyn started talking about the poverty and mental health issues you could hear the arrogance and the condescending tone in the Tories. What has become of society truly saddens me, there is no empathy in them whatsoever. 😥

If someone like Corbyn is sitting at the back benches rather than leading this country, things are seriously wrong in the system in identifying true charismatic leaders!

He (Corbyn) says it like it is. Shame the media slagged him so much and the people believed them without researching for themselves

At least JC retained his integrity over 40 years in politics, Johnson never had any

Great to hear Jeremy Corbyn tell the simple truth. We don't get to hear it much.

No wonder the right wing press vilified Corbyn he described exactly what Johnson does.

In addition to his many scintillating attributes, JC can never be accused of chasing riches, or power for itself or self glorification. His shirt and tie tell you he is incorruptible. He frightens the establishment so much that they had to gang up on him even within his own party! Kier Starmer can crow all he likes, but he won't come within a country mile of JC's appeal to the true labour voters.

He never addresses criticism with facts because he can't, he always falls back on his supposed mandate of 14M people. Let's put that mandate to the test, have a general election.
