I have that saw and it’s amazing. I upgraded the blade to an 80t cmt and it works flawlessly and the price you couldn’t beat. Zero play in the slide rails puts it in a budget class of its own, all the other budget miter saws I looked at had tons of play in the slide rails.

When I retired in 2020 and started woodworking, I first equipped my shop with the starter tools like circular saw, jig saw and standard power tools that were needed. Being a real DeWalt fan boy, I kept looking and looking at their miter saws. Then I saw a review from Vince at VCG Construction. That did it for me. Picked up the Skil miter saw and haven’t regretted it. I’ve built cabinets, shoe racks, crosses etc. and have found this a very accurate and affordable saw! For my needs, it’s a perfect fit. I bought this in October when I saw a toll deal pop up on your page. It's my first miter saw, used up to this point for a bathroom renovation. Stock blade does great for framing and trim. I agree that dust collecting sucks, even with my shopvac plugged in. I also used it to cut pvc plumbing pipes and it doesn't have enough vertical capacity for 4" sch 40 PVC. Everything else has been wonderful about it.
I appreciate the upgrade advice. I'm wading more into woodworking to make cabinets and vanities for future renovations. My wife also cooks up a ton of interesting ideas for me to build her. Your content is a go-to for my own learning. Thanks for all the great suggestions!

Bought this about 3 weeks ago during prime day for a steal. So far its been great! I love the shadow line as it even shows me the width of the teeth so I can account for that in my cut.

I am in Greece for the summer, bought one of these and the Skil table saw, just finished building a shed/storage, starting a second one. I used the table saw to split 35 2x6's in two, not one bogdown. Used the mitter saw to cut everything else, not one problem with power or accuracy. Only "complaints", once in a while you can tell the saw brake takes longer to work on the mitter, and both saws are a little on the loud side - a consideration while working up on the roof, no sound insulation, right in the middle of town in a country where by law you can't make loud noises in the afternoon. Other than that, perfect for what I need. Back in the US I have both the Bosch 12" glider and the Ridgid 10", but I am trully impressed with all the Skil products - I also bought the corded Skil router (European version) and hand planer. Very impressed with everything.

I researched long and hard and when I bought a sliding compound miter saw it was the Makita 1219L on a Bosch Anti Gravity portable stand. I guess it came down to buy what you can afford and I bought the Makita. I did buy the Skil Table Saw you recommended but I gave it to a young carpenter. He did a great job updating two bathrooms in my parents house installing laminate flooring and trim. He didn’t charge me very much at all and after the bathrooms were done I called his dad to tell him I had something to give him. He had a terrible miter saw that he used to do the work but he did fantastic work. I’m glad you recommended the Skil Table Saw because he was sure happy to get it.

Got the mitre saw and table saw. A total upgrade from my craftsman saws. A heck of alot lighter and dead accurate very happy. I have a 7 1/4 circular saw I have had for 30 years and refuse to get rid of it but looking at their cordless tools now.
