David, this is the best trip report I've ever watched from you. The discussion of Northwest's history in Tokyo (with great old images), getting around the airport, and even including the brand and model of each seat on the airplane is really going above and beyond, very good stuff! But my favorite enhancement here from your older videos is your voice speaking all the narration instead of just captions on the screen. That makes it so much more pleasant to watch.
I hope you keep making videos with all of those great additions which very few others ever include. I am not interested in a calendar, however.

Great video, David! Thanks so much for the shout out! Fascinating to see how much has changed since 2020…

Thank you for including a bit of history about Northwest Airlines. My first flight ever was with NWA on a DC-9 just before they retired the type. They have a special place in my heart!

Besides being an aviation geek, i’m also a railway fan with Japanese trains being my absolute favourite. i’m really impressed David, that you’re able to rattle off all those Tokyo train lines and explain the thru service very well! “Simply Railway” for the future? I loved the recent Japan content and can see the interest and knowledge you have in the country.

Considering your ticket only cost $400 I think you got good service. Expectations have to be in line with the price paid for the service. Your 2020 flight may have been more premium but the price you paid was also more than double what you did for this one. Also, service isn’t just food and pillows on the plane it’s the ease of booking flights, check in process, security screening, baggage wait time and did your bags make it with you, and friendliness of staff on the ground and on the plane.

I appreciated the history segment about Northwest Airlines. I've lived in Minneapolis for most of my life and I remember the days when Northwest was everywhere at MSP. I do quite miss seeing all of those redtails. I wish Delta would paint one of their aircraft in a Northwest Airlines heritage livery, kind of like what American Airlines does.

Delta has always been an airline that focused on customer service.

It’s unfortunate DL basically abandoned *ALL* of Southeast Asia even when everything opened back up again (they’re offloading all such connections to their partners at Korean Air, fwiw)… 😢

Your reviews make me very nostalgic. I lived in Tokyo from 1967-68 and then again June 1969-71 going to Haneda Airport frequently. I then returned to the US and worked for the first wholesale tour company selling group tours to Asia initially using Northwest Orient Airlines (as it was called then). Over the years I've flown more than 20 million miles and now hold Delta Silver medallion status for life as a million miler. UA 3 million miler and AA almost 5 million miler. I've see it all and your video reminded me of a part of it. Thank you!!

Sitting here with my laptop and I thought "let me go check if there are any new Delta videos" as I am travelling Delta One in August and want to see what Delta is doing right or wrong... This video is of course sitting at the top of my YouTube homepage. Always love Simply Aviation video's and especially Brutally Honest. David you need to have your own TV show

Your brutally honest content is awesome. I really appreciate how you also went over airport details, transportation options, the works. Thanks for taking us along!

I fly Delta most of the time. Even in first class they have reduced the quality of meal service and presentation. I live in Bermuda and before Covid they always served a hot lunch. Now it is just a box lunch, and not of high quality. Still a good airline but the cutbacks have been apparent.

I’m very amazed on how detailed and accurate descriptions of Haneda access and the airport itself. That was something Japanese people could do for visitors.

Your videos are structured extremely well and are very entertaining and informative. They never fail to impress.

The longer variant A330-300 was the shortest range wide body on the market at any point in its existence, since it first entered service in 1994 with range of 4, 000 nmi (basically tied with A300-600R and the short range 767-300 for the first 6-8 years). And now, the second generation of that same "short range" wide body flies trans-Pacific between LAX and Haneda with plenty of range to spare. That really puts those ever-increasing numbers in perspective.
Speaking of amazing range... Although the upcoming A321XLR doesn't quite have enough range for this route, it does technically have enough range and enough ETOPS rating for Tokyo to San Francisco. I still doubt anyone will fly it on that route, but I guess they could if carrying no more payload beyond 200 passengers and their bags. Wow

I have always loved Delta’s service. Pre-pandemic I had an incredible economy flight from Miami to Rome on an A330 with Delta. Post-pandemic I’ve had plenty of domestic economy flights with Delta but have also treated myself to some domestic First Class flights. Their A321-NEO first class from LAX to MIA was awesome. Comfortable, spacious redesigned seat and IFE. More recently, earlier this month, I flew Delta domestic FC from MIA to BOS. This was a much different experience because the plane was 20+ years old and the layout reflected that. I have to say though, the flight crew and meal service were phenomenal on that flight and despite the aging cabin, my flight was superb.

I took this same flight back in February and the service was really good!

I think I would definitely buy a calendar with pictures like that one! Hopefully there is a company that could offer printing in Europe, the Americas, and Asia so that shipping doesn't become the majority of the cost of buying the calendar.

I would honestly buy the calendar if you guys decide to produce it. I will place it in front of my desk, so I can take a few minutes here and there between work to look at the pictures and let my mind fly..at least my mind! Keep up the good work, this has become one of my fav channels of all times!
