My eyes wander all over the place when I talk to people, I constantly have to remind myself to look at the person I'm speaking to. I'll make eye contact for a few seconds, then I'll look back up at the ceiling or down at my hands. Also, people often ask me, "What's wrong? You look sad."

We’re always searching for just the right words to say. Plus direct eye contact can feel overwhelming. We prefer to stare from a distance.

I dont know how to not look melancholic. People often ask if something is wrong. Specially if Im on a date lol. Nothing is wrong, Im usually just thinking.

Same. I don't really look at someone, something when I explain something. I'm focused on what I'm saying and I sometimes remember that I have to look into people's eyes. I'm in my head. More like a monologue. Until I finish. Otherwise I forget what I have to say.

It's so damn hard to maintain eye contact when I talk. If I'm looking at their eyes, I start to think what the other person is thinking instead of what I want or need to say

As an INFJ, I find this very interesting to analyze. I’ve often been told that I come across melancholic.

The fact that you can relate so much to those people and Identify them is unreal of itself.
You just KNOW what's going on

Brooo, it's not that deep. We're just thinking too much and trying to talk at the same time.

I wont argue that when INFJs get into serious mood that they can display those features. But I've seen another type of INFJ that shows a lot of optimism (not melancholic) and Fe expression in the face. My INFJ daughter is very optimistic like an enneagram type 7 but she is 1w2 soc/sp. 7 probably is in her tritype. Think she can resemble an enfj with her expressions but she needs that introverted alone time.

wondering eyes! Ugh it’s so hard to control, I always catch myself doing it. I try not to do it so often because I want to appear confident when I’m talking

I guess that's me. I never gave it much thought before. However, I have noticed that when I enter a room I always look around at objects first. Even in a restaurant I notice the decorating and ornaments before looking at the menu. Even before speaking with someone I notice their hair, eyes, jewelry and clothing, then I speak.

This weirded me out a bit. I am a counselor and I break eye contact during therapy when I decide it is time to speak up because it helps me to turn off the projected emotions so I can focus on my thoughts. I want what I say to be very purposeful and to have an impact. I discovered over the years that some patients will get distress by this and so I then explain, when I look away it is to focus and not to worry because my mind hasn't wondered off.

Wandering eyes at the top of my list while speaking or being spoken to

When I make eye contact with others it sometimes feels like someone just hit fast forward on my peripheral vision

Damn! All the comments are so exactly on spot about how I feel ...these are the people like me...all of these are so relatable 😭

I like the background music! Also curious, when you say "wondering eyes, " do you mean "wandering eyes?" Not trying to nitpick; just curious because both are plausible but have slightly different meanings.

I find it so funny that people don't get board when I talk 😂 I can't help it to save my life but man...
