I like the symbolism of a saber-staff from both of his "parents" (master and mentor), but I also like to imagine that his tinkering is canon, perhaps rewrapping it if the grip becomes worn, or even utilizing galactic patina techniques to recolor the metals like we do in-game.

You should define a Jedi's lightsaber by how it looks at the end of their journey. Cal's journey is not finished yet, but he went through different literary beats that reflected in his lightsaber. You begin with a broken saber, a relic of a now destroyed government. Then he begins to find himself, which is reflected by the dual blade on Dathomir. After the new kyber crystal didn't work, he had to combine his old Jaro knowledge with his new Cere knowledge, forging a blade that combines both hilts. I'd say his cannon lightsaber is the one he makes on Ilum with default customization.

To me I don't think either one of them are his lightsaber but the combination of them together is what makes it Cal's lightsaber.

Even if you dont consider the lightsabers hes given to be his, it doesn’t matter because the lightsaber was broken, the crystal destroyed, he got a new crystal and restored the lightsaber rebuilding it, his past and present met leading the path into the future, hes a combination on the two cere and jaro and the crystal, ITS HIS LIGHTSABER it represents who he is

I think it would be cool if Disney eventually released a Cere lightsaber that is able to connect to the Cal Kestis lightsaber much like how the regular Maul lightsaber can connect to Maul’s Shadow Collective lightsaber.
