What are your thoughts on the 'Housing for All' plan? Are you optimistic for the future or not so much?

When you see the way tradesmen were treated after the last crash you wouldnt be
surprised the way things are in the country. When I emigrated to London because I wasnt entitled to Welfare because I worked on a C35. That was the way you got work in those days. I met plenty of Irish tradesmen in London who would never go home. Why would they ???
Maybe some of those people sitting on their arses being looked after could build a few houses eh ??? After all they were all looked after after the crash.

Thanks for laying that out for us.
I strongly disagree with the idea of relaxing central bank lending rules though. If everybody has access to more debt, then house prices will just increase accordingly. Meaning the same issues will persist but now everyone has more debt.
It's such a dangerous idea, I hate seeing it being pushed as a solution

Housing outside dublin can be got as little as 100k. Problem with that is there is little to no work in these areas especially when it comes to a recession. Modular housing can be built and kitted out for 30k. The problem with that is that the government will block them except when they can build them themselves for ukrainains. I have personally seen vast tracts of empty land inside the m50 not being used for either commercial ind or residential. Planning refuse to allow High rises or subways. The entire ponzi scheme is designed to force the productive class if they are nieve enough to stay in their 20s to a come to dublin to achieve a steady job b work themselves to death getting into insane levels of debt thereby inflating the cost of living for the locals c generate over inflated mortgages which can be sold on the international market to increase irelands creditworthiness and gdp. Its a massive ponzi scheme they are manipulating the market in order to turn Housing into the same thing oil is in Saudi Arabia. The problem is everyone needs oil. People can only pay mortgage as long as they have a just over broke ie wage slave job and that is dependent on the economic cycles of the g7 and how they get along and banks can only issue mortgages if there is credit available which if there is another recession ie high interest rates war as in now or credit crunch as in 08 there won't be. this country is headed for a biblical decade long economic depression thousands of middle aged underpaid homeless mass unemployment and anyone who inst debt or mortgage free and in their own home might as well pack up now and run.

The real reasons you cannot afford to buy a house are:

1) The government put a false floor under house prices when they were falling.
2) The government did everything possible to cause house prices to increase.
3) The government did this because they wanted to be able to say NAMA made a profit.
4) The government enacted laws which made it legally difficult and economically challenging for banks to repossess houses in default.
5) The government did this because they did not want defaulters evicted as (apart from being unpopular with people who couldn`t pay their mortgage) it would have caused those houses to be put on the market which would have put downward pressure on house prices. (Good for you but bad for the government).
6) The goverment borrowed to bail out the banks in order to enact the above policies. Those borrowings must be serviced by taxing you.
7) The government, in doing these things, made other people`s debts, your debt.
8) The government, by inflating house prices, inflated your rent.
9) The government thinks young people are thick. Why else would they expect you to believe that the tiny proportion of the overall housing market that gets built in any given year is the problem and not the other 99% of houses which they spent the last 13 years re-inflating (with the borrowed money you will have to repay)?

These are the reasons you cannot afford to buy a house.

For 100 years the promises come, they look and sound different but their just the same/ hypothetically- if I gave you a job to do and after 100 YEARS you still hadn't finished it or hadn't even been doing a good job at trying, and during the 100 years I checked to see how you were getting on say 20 times and you continuously gave me the same excuses why its not done and again and again give me great promises on how your going to get it done.
(1) SHOULD I BELIEVE YOU ??
(2) SHOULD I HIRE YOU AGAIN ??
(3) HAVE I / AND AM I BEEN CONNED??
(4) IS THE REASON YOU NEVER FINNISH THE JOB IS SIMPLY THAT YOU DON'T WHAT TO, MAYBE BECAUSE OF YOUR FEAR YOU'LL BE OUT OF A JOB /OR FEAR OF MOVING ON TO THE NEXT JOB/
( OR FEAR YOU'LL HAVE NOTING LEFT TO PROMISE ME ??.)
SHAMEFUL ?? PROBABLY !!.VIRTUOUS ?? NEVER !! FICTITIOUSNESS ?? YES !!.

Most of the plan does sound good in theory but I think alot of people are doubtful about the government following through with this. I dont know much about the shared equity scheme but it doesn't seem like a good idea. Do people have to pay back that 43, 000 to the government, if so, when? If people cant afford that 43, 000 now, what are the chances they will ever be able to pay that back? Isn't that basically the same as the banks giving out more money than the consumer can repay? Thereby leading to another crash as no one can repay their loans?

Not at all optimistic, just build house's/apartment's, it really is as simple as that, we were able to do it in the 20s 30s 40s 50s & 60s when as a country we didn't have a pot to piss in, but we can't do it now with being an incredibly rich country for our size ?

What about compulsory purchase orders? What about single people with a home that are turfed out of the their own homes as i.e. they have 3 bedroom house.

I'm not convinced house prices in desirable areas will come down as a result of this plan. Same as our health service there will be a 2-tier system. Wealthy/upper middle class will continue to buy in established affluent areas, whilst others will occupy a social house, cost rental, shared equity house on the outskirts of towns and cities.
