Thank you for giving and introductory explanation of the science of reading. I am attempting to become a better teacher and have watched a bunch of videos that did not help, but yours actually started with a little bit of an explanation. Kudos, you have my upvote.

Why! Why Everything AJA are slipping into my Yutube suggestions while I am trying to live my best summer life and be a school denier. Yet here I am at 3:45 in the morning not sleeping like normal people or watching funny videos about cats and instead watching another one of your videos. Why, because they are pure fire 🔥, on point, valid, fair on both sides, and entertaining. If you bring 1/2 as much passion and drive into your classroon as you do these videos, your students are truly blessed, but my guess would be that you bring much more.

I think most schools employ both methods anyway. Science of reading in the classroom and balanced literacy approach visiting the library .. although being a librarian and reading coach it’s pretty easy to see through balanced literacy if the science of reading needs to be applied in very specific areas.. there are some domains that need to be revisited explicitly. A school that employs both at the appropriate times would be the best.
