I've never heard a school so quiet in my life

I am Japanese and belonged to the archery club. I'm very happy to be able to let so many different people learn about Japanese culture

I admire the Japanese for their commitment to their culture, and the amount of pride they take in anything they do.

I am Japanese, kyudo is one of my favourite things to do in school because it is not only better than studying in a classroom but also because it is calm and meditative. If you get a chance, try kyudo! ☺️

Of all the countries I have been to, I would say Japan by far has the richest culture. I was lucky enough to live in Japan for 4 and a half years. Amazing country and beautiful people.

In Kyudo, you just master the art of the bow. Never show emotions even when you hit/miss the target. It's not about hitting the target, this is a form of meditation itself.

I really anvy them as I also wish our schools could also teach such sports like archery, swordsmanship, kungfu and so on
I wish Indian schools also promote our cultural and heroic arts

At first glance, it may seem like they are behaving in exaggerated silence because they are being filmed, but actually when it comes to Kyudo, this silence and concentration, along with the spirituality that comes with it, are regarded as essential and highly valued.

Even in daily practice, no words are spoken in this sequence of actions and their afterglows. This is a common sight in any high school that has a Kyudo club.

Among Japanese student clubs, Kyudo is one of the most solemn activities, and those who have experience in Kyudo are often respected for their concentration and clutch performance, even by the same Japanese people.

This makes me genuinely happy and the instruments being played are so soothing to my ears!

Japanese high school: let’s learn the art of the bow, and respect our traditions

American high school: we can’t get the students to pay attention and it’s lunch 😢

I used to go to school in Nishinomiya (now in America). One day we went on a trip to go do outdoor activities, mostly(or all) traditional Japanese things. I ended up refusing to leave the archery place until we had to go back to school, I had this sort of connection with archery and I still do despite not being able to do it anymore.

I have never done archery but watching this it's seems to be about poise and elegance and mindful of the moment
