Do you have fiber internet options available in your area? What else can I help you with on building your home network?

Once I got Fiber Internet, I never looked back and even started a Youtube complementing it. Low latency in games is godsend.

I have 100 mbps down and 35 mbps up. I am the only one using it and it does all that I need it to do for streaming services in 4k. The only reason that I could see needing more upload speed is if I desired very fast video uploads. I don’t game, so I don’t know what is required for that. The ping times that you’re getting on fiber there might be helpful, assuming that your computer is also quick.

I have been on fiber for a week here in South Africa. 200/20 costs me $75 per month on uncapped data plan. I was on copper vdsl 20/5 and the difference for me is huge as I can now stream 8k content where in the past I could only do 4k 1440p. Any faster I would get buffering. My isp does not offer more than 200meg at this time as fiber is relatively new in my area. Ping was 35ms and now on fiber 13ms. Keep your vids coming as I always enjoy your content.

I started using 1Gb/s fiber about a year ago and the upgrade felt awesome, now I got more than 30 WIFi devices and recently got second router. Yep I'll be upgrading to 2Gb/s very soon lol

I pay 20€ for 5Gbit/s in Italy. I could get a 10Gbit/s fiber for 35€, but I’m fine with 5Gbit/s

"I never could get more than fifty megabit upload, and that was pretty slow" *weeps, in rural 8megabit uploads*

I live in rural AR. Tried FTTH signed contract and everything. Told free install. 100/mo for 10mb symmetrical. Started installing then asked for $285, 000 to run the fiber line. Still using LTE but hopefully in 2-4 mos Starlink.

I recently moved into an area with fiber in Oregon. While we're just using 200/200 Mbps, i'm glad we have the option to go up to 1/1 Gbps eventually when we need to. Thanks, Ziply Fiber

Got ATT fiber 1gig up 1 gig down and loving it. Smart home with about 40 devices and all work crazy fast no lag. Got eero WiFi 6 with three routers. Paying $58 dollars a month for 12 months. Before that was paying $70 per month. Also gave me hbo max free for the year. Every year I call them and they give deals when contract ends and I renew it. Here in Florida.

AT&T has the newer bgw320 gateway with ONT onboard. No separate ONT. Just run the line from the outside point into the house and right to the gateway. They also have symmetrical download and upload speeds standard.

Like "coaxial" cable internet, PON fiber internet has an aspect of shared media. Where many cable modem subscribers share a single cable trunk, several fiber internet subscribers will share a single OLT port. Because the amount of bandwidth shared can be much higher (eg 10 Gbps) and the number sharing might be lower (eg 32), the user may perceive a dedicated connection. Each subscriber does have their own fiber going all the way to the splitter, and that is an improvement. However, all of the subscribers on the same splitter and OLT port ("PON segment") have fibers that all receive the same download pulses. When a neighbor downloads, his downloads are going to the ONTs of the whole PON segment, and all but his ignore this. In this way the other users may decrease your available bandwidth. One may be able to negotiate for an OLT port that is not split and shared with others, likely at a higher cost.

I rent a modem from Comcast, part of the price includes unlimited data. I'm usually in the realm of 3TB a month sometimes a little more.

I live in Chicago suburbs. I'd love to have fiber, but my choices are limited to Comcast or AT&T. Since my municipality has a "Franchise" agreement with Comcast, I have to take the "triple play" whether I want it or not. Fail. AT&T has fiber available, but it's 3248' to the "Cabinet" and I'd have to pay to have the fiber installed the whole way. So for now, I'm stuck with a "bonded pair" and iffy service. Glad to see you have great options, that speed and personal control is worth it.

Utopia fiber options where not available to me. However about a month after buying my home Google fiber became available to me. The one huge benefit of going to Google fiber over Utopia or any other provider is that you do not pay for installation or equipment. I recently was given the option to update my Google fiber router to two Google WiFi routers at no cost to me. One as the main modem and the other as a mesh access point. That's a savings of about $200.

I love my gigabit fibre line. My mesh router can’t even keep up at 800 mbps

I am moving in a few months, could you make a separate video about what to look in an ISP when signing up for internet, also if i should use their modem or my own?

I switched to fiber a few months was tired of all the issues with cable. Cable had too many customers on one line and everything slowed right down when everyone was home at night and between internet and tv my bill was over $200 a month. I'm using Chromecast with Google TV and Cobra Hosting for TV. I run the same setup with Google Nest Wifi router.... uploading videos is much faster now.
