Company loyalty is very important... for the company.

I’ve literally left a job for more money and went back to the last job for even more money. Fucking wild

When you switch, make sure the new job is confirmed and contract ready before you hand in your notice/resignation. Leave on good terms just in case your old job offers more in the future.

Sometimes just switching within the same company matters hugely

I switched multiple times until I found a stable company that values me. There's risk involved in starting at a new company so you need to recognize when it's time to be grateful for what you have.

Not only that u also get better at your skill sets. Everytime u leave a job and get a new one u learn so much cause every company does things differently.

This worked when the job market wasn't complete crap. At least in my experience almost every NOC role I was going to (I have my relevant certs, bachelor's, and work experience) had no joke 100 plus people if not 500 for some of the bigger roles, most had same if not more qualifications. It's rough out there in the tech space right now. I got into tech sales because I have experience in sales and this is a great balance for me and sales in general is just easier to get into.

Im not saying switching jobs is always smart, but I've known far more people that have stuck around a place, worked their butts off, and not made it anywhere..

It depends on your profession. Some medical professions are consistent in pay no matter where you go because it’s not as highly valued even though it’s essential and pay has more to do with location.

This is so specific to the field you work in

It’s not always about money. There is also value in enjoying the work that you do and the people you work with. If you find a job you like, it may be worth more to stay there than a raise to go work somewhere else where you may not enjoy yourself as much.

First year is really dialing in the fundamentals of the job, second year is coasting while performing at a high level, third year is upskilling and networking. Then you move companies. Rinse and repeat. It makes for a good balance as you’re starting a family, buying a house, and just growing as a person.

To add to this; Moving laterally within the same company is also a good move when possible/beneficial. If you’re in sales somewhere in retail like lowes, switch departments, they will typically give you a raise and you can always leverage what you learn as a strength to make you more valuable if you want to move up the ladder, or when you eventually leave for another company you get to flex you diverse skill/knowledge base.
And knowing more/doing more makes you “un-fire-able”

I work in a paper mill and its disadvantageous to switch. They give the same salaries elsewhere and you’re loosing seniority 🤷‍♂️

There’s an upper limit too. If you’re nearing the top of your field, the jump can sometimes offer little more pay but you have to consider your perks and working environment.

I would stay at a job getting less pay if I like my current coworkers, my commute, my work/life balance. I am not someone who gets along with everybody. I cannot stand slackers and bullies. Moving around for more experience and career is fine, but you do risk your mental health and work/life balance. Have to weigh the pros and cons rather than just look at the wage difference.

Stay on that grind team. Never settle or anything, always strive for better, because you fucking deserve it. Show the world who tf you really are 💪

I having good and bad managers and supervisors makes a big difference as well.

I would hate to get stuck for a manager or supervisor that always micromanages everything and talks down to you at the same time.
