I love how every “American” is just instantly southern

It really depends on the state in the Us. As an American Ohio is really strict about it, but when I moved to another state it was a lot less strict.

Meanwhile in Indonesia...

"I'm here to get my license! Here's the money!"
"Aight, just go on ahead and take a picture over there and it'll be done in a minute!"

Lots of people saying it’s nothing like that. In Oregon for me. It was exactly that. At 15 took a written test to get a learners permit. (Like 25 questions that you don’t have to finish if you hit 70%). Drive a few hours with my dad to practice. Day I turned 16, took the same written test again and 20 minute driving test in the boonies. Good to go - drove a couple hours home by myself.

in my state, you need:
1. 35 hours of driving laws, safety, etc classes (i did 7 hours for 5 days)
2. permit test passed
3. 50 hours driving minimum with permit (10 being at night)
4. 6 hours of driving behind the wheel classes with an instructor after getting permit
5. after 1 year of having permit you can take the driving test

(ofc it depends on the state)

it's a lot more complicated in America and you do need driving hours - lessons from an instructor are not required, but you do get insurance breaks from that I believe.
As other comments stated, it does depend on the state!
I will say though. After passing my test, the person giving me a lisence did not ask for proof of residence, if I passed or for my certificate, nothing. I took the test outside of the DMV.
Also I nearly failed the sample question on the written portion. It was 2+2. I was nervous lmao.

The worse part of the US driver license portion is the 3 hour wait to get your picture taken lol.

Ha ha you forgot the part for American where we show up at the butt-crack of dawn and have to wait half the freaking day in line before getting to talk to the person but nice job on this one

The thing is, in the USA driving is essential for anyone who doesn’t live in or very near to a major city.

We need 50-60 hours in America. (Doesn't change that a lot of people throw the rule book out the window after the get their license tho)

Depends on where you live in the US, but it’s definitely easier because in the us, most people HAVE to be able to drive to get around and too and from work. Especially in rural areas. When I was a kid, I had a 45 minute drive to school (and home) WITHOUT traffic. But where I live, it’s pretty difficult to get your license still because the state requires that everyone take this “state-certified” drivers Ed class, but the state only operates one class a month for the entire western half of the state.

Also depends on the state. In Michigan you can start Drivers training at 14.5. I started at 15 not sure which. Driver's training 1- pass a test and do practicals with an instructor each weekend for 6-8 weeks. Apply/get permit to drive with a licensed adult over 21, Drivers training 2, another 2 tests to pass and driving with instructor/adult, parking test (must pass before the road test), road test, and one more written test. There is also now optional emergency road training simulators. (I got my license at about 17 so it took about 2 years) or.... you can wait until you're 18 and just do a written test and road test

Hell, in my home town, you have to take the practice test up to 10 times, if you fail twice or three times you have to retake them, then comes the 50 question test that if you get below a 80 on you fail, and have to come back weeks later and pay for another. Once that's finally done, you then have your learner's then you have to drive for up to 6 months with a family or close friend to learn the shit, then there's Joshua's law. Taking the actual thing with a driver's instructor you have to have a 95 or above to get your driver's license. Our town is harsh but everyone is stupidly save and almost everyone has next to no accident records, and there's only one tow company so there's honestly rarely any accidents in my hometown

It’s pretty accurate for Georgia, or at least when I got mine.
