Studying Accounting and Finance At University in 2024? WATCH THIS!

In this video I am going to supply finance university tips, for if you are wanting to do accounting and finance at university! I have been an accounting student at university for 4 years now, and there are a few things I have learnt that I think you should know.

Accountancy at university seems like a good idea for good future prospects, so if you are asking yourself "should I do accounting at university?" This is the video for you. Dundee university is where I have completed my studies and along the way I have learned a few things you should know.

Accounting and finance at university in first year feels a lot easier than ,accountancy and finance at university in second year, and it is very important to know to not to get too overconfident in the earliest year.

Also when studying finance at university, you need to be aware of the fact that the examinations are more essay based than maths based. Like my exams this year, for example, have around 80% of the marks given for essays, which is a lot.

Still asking should I do finance at university? Well you should know that you will not be a qualified chartered accountant even when you have finished your degree! There are still approximately 3 years of professional exams to be undertaken with companies such as CIMA, ACCA and ICAS.

Also when you graduate from doing accounting and finance at university, ALL of the graduate programmes for any firm will require you to have achieved a 2:1 or better, so get studying early!

And finally, the job market after accounting higher education is incredibly saturated, with applicants. Unfortunately not so saturated with jobs. There's around 50 accounting graduates in Scotland for every accounting graduate role.

Yess, I can relate very well. I'm currently on my fourth year at uni as well. Accounting and finance opens you up to careers in finance from Invesment banking to asset management to hedge funds and Private equity as well which need hire a lot of grads out of uni so there’s two industry’s that are available to some one who study’s accounting and finance !
