Substitutionary Atonement is not the same as Penal Substitution.

Sub Atonement = Jesus died for us.

Penal Sub = Christ punished in our place.

The latter is a type of sub atonement but it is not the only one.

So what are they trying to say, that what Jesus did for all of mankind was merely a substitute for our sins? Sorta like a substitute teacher grading test in place of the Real teacher?

There is no substitutionary atonement even possible, atonement comes through repentance from sin, and a profession of faith to God.

So God paid Satan a ransom, Jesus. I think Isaiah is talking about Israel not Jesus. The suffering servant is Israel.

Jesus did not sin but he did die, he was raised so he defeated death, his death allowed the covenant of Moses to change. Jesus can take away death not sin.

I have a Ytube video series called 'Myths in so-called Christianity', atonement comes by a profession of faith.
